how to render furniture with a background photograph

in The Commons
HI,
I'm working with a photographer who photographed a room without furniture.
I need to add 3d furniture and render it with that room photograph.
Any advice as to lighting setup, rendering etc will be greatly appreciated.
I'm rendering in Daz Studio 4.15 Pro.

Adding the photo via Window>Panes(Tabs)>Environment, as a Backdrop, would be the first step. Matching the camera to the settings on the real camera would be next (allow for the sensor size, and enable Depth of Field). Lighting is going to hav to be done by eye, though if the photographer took some lightmeter readings it should give a starting point.
For floor, and possibly wall, shadows you'd need to add some plane primitives and then enable the Iray matte by selecting them and running Scripts>Utilities>Create Advanced Iray Node Properties and going into the Parameters pane.
If you use the built-in Backdrop on the Environment tab in DS, the photo is not affected by the lighting so you can focus on the lighting for the furniture only.
Just be sure to give the viewport the same x:y proportions as the photo, as it otherwise will be strecthed to match the viewport size.
You may also want to resize the photo to the same pixel dimensions as the viewport if it is very large, as Iray preview update gets slower the larger the picture is, in later versions of DS.
Here's a sample with some furniture props rendered with a backdrop photo.
