Will There Ever be a Bridge to Poser?

I don't use Poser, but some people do.  Poser content lags behind Daz content, so I was wondering if there might be a chance of a bridge.

NB: I know nothing about Poser today.  I tried it back in the Poser 3-4 days, but didn't have time to spend learning it then.

I can't imagine that happening... Renderosity owns Poser now, that's pretty much DAZ's nemesis...

I highly doubt it. I was a long time poser user before getting into DS, having all versions except the current Renderosity one. For years content from DAZ worked in both apps, but tech moved on and poser didn't want to adopt the tech behind what DAZ was using, hence the divide. I honestly can't see moving to poser if you are used to DS or any other 3d posing/render app. IMO current posers tend to stay with it because they are just used to the app and it's features..

I started using DS so I could use the Reality /lux renderer. Years later a version of Reality was released for poser and I decided to get back into poser to check it out and found poser to be less intuitive and clunky to use at that point after using DS for so long.

That's an interesting take. They're not even really competitors. Daz sends Richard there to answer Daz questions and their vendors also produce Daz content, some of them becoming Daz PAs as well.

I can't imagine that happening either, but I'm pretty sure it would make them more money than NFTs will ;)

Since Daz Characters, the more modern ones, will not work in Poser,  and even the older generations of Genesis needed  the DSON imprter to be able to work in Poser   I do not think that it is a viable proposition.

The DSON importer stopped working in poser 12 due to python 3 from what I have read.

The bridges IMHO, are a way for Daz to introduce thier figures & content to user  of  other 3D software packages  with purpose built  FREE exporters to those packages.

    (Blender Maya UE4 Unity, Maxon)

That is  potential linear market growth

Poser users already have a lateral "bridge" to the the Daz  genssis content eco system .. it is  called Daz studio and its free.

99 Percent of the legacy Cr2 based Poser content (V4/M4)can be used in Daz studio with no special DSON conversion etc,

At this point Daz studio has exceeded Poser by every measure including rendering and ..yes  Character animation.

I am about to release a commercial set of bespoke, looping "everyday social"  motions for the G8 female and they will be in .Duf format. ..Not Poser format, as I personally have zero interest in developing for Poser and  its native figures.

Daz doesn't send me, I go under my own steam (well, I think it's my own steam - sometimes it's tricky telling the voices apart).

The whole purpose of the Daz bridges is to allow Daz3D content to be used in other state of the art 3D softwares and game engines,  thus expanding the potential market.  Poser unfortunately fell behind some years back.

I see. Good on you, then! It's helpful and thanks for doing that. I still think seeing a known Daz ambassador in their forum is pretty friendly - Not exactly the business nemesis mindset.

Unity, Blender and Unreal have a user base of millions each - I doubt that's the kind of figures we'll see in Cararra and Poser, it would be a less attractive market to spend money on developing exports for I'm sure.

DS does already have a CR2 exporter, and an OBJ exporter for the geometry. The CR2 exporter can handle non-Dual Quaternion weights as well as parametric rigging.

I totally forgot about that, it's been so many years since I used Poser :)
