character not looking right
When I apply a character to the Genesis 8 base figure I am getting a difference in appearance from the product images of the character and what I am producing. I am aware of professional lighting and character rendering and that what I can produce and what the creator can produce will ultimately be of a different quality, however what I am talking about is a seemingly difference in overall geometry from mine and theirs. The lips are fuller and the cheek bones are higher and the area around the mouth is more sunken in. The character in the product images has a more feminine mouth and an overall more round and youthful face. Is there a setting I am doing wrong because I thought that the characters where fundamentally supposed to be load and go. The figure I am trying to use is the Sienna HD for Genesis 8 Female.

Looks like you have another morph in there as well as Sienna. Check the parameters tab and check the currently used section to what morphs are active.
I did find another character morph under Sienna. Thanks for the heads up. I was under the impression that when you loaded a new character morph that the old one was wiped and the new one placed on top. I guess I was wrong and "stacking" is a thing. This leads to another question. Is it better to load a Genesis 8 base figure first, and then aply a character morph? Or should all characters be loaded as stand alone figures in a scene?
There is no "stacking" and if you had another character morph loading, it will most probably load also with the base figure. The reason is that the character morph has been saved with a non-zero default value, which means that it will by default be activated with any and all of your G8F characters and figures.
Do you remember which character it was?
Now this is weird, the Character that is being added is LY Rory. Now, I have never used that characther for any of my renders but for some reason every single time i load a character she is being attached to the build. when I load a character I am getting an error message that reads "duplicate formulas found in files". This must be when she is getting loaded in. I killed Daz and started it up again but the smae thing is happening. I am thinking I am going to have to wipe my content directory and reinstall everything. Any suggestions?
No need to wipe the content library for one ill-behaving character. Check first if LY Rory has been updated, since probably someone else has already reported it to DAZ.
To fix any ill-behaving morphs, do as follows;
1. Open DS and load "Genesis 8 Basic Female" (to an empty scene)
2. Help->Troubleshooting->View Log File (clear the log, close it and select "Save" when asked)
3. Left Click at "Active Pane Options" tab->Preferences->Choose "Show Hidden Properties" (part 4 zeroes only 'visible' dials)
4. Right Click at Parameters Tab->Zero->Zero Figure (Zeroes the value of all the 'visible' dials)
5. Right Click at Parameters Tab->Memorize->Memorize Figure (Sets the current value of all the dials as their default value)
6. Edit->Save As->Support Asset->Save Modified Assets (Writes the changed default value to the morph files that were changed)
When saving "Modified Assets" DS shows a dialog and asks for confirmation;
"The following file(s) will be permanently modified:" - "Accept/Cancel" - Choose "Accept"
Close DS and wait -> Open DS again and load "Genesis 8 Basic Female"
Help->Troubleshooting->View Log File (Save the logfile somewhere you can easily find it)
If the procedure doesn't help, attach the log to your post with the "Attach a file" under the "Leave a Comment" window, that way we can have a look at it.
I'm having trouble finding the "active paine options" can someone direct me where to find it?
It's the little tab with four horizontal lines
The duplicate formulas is highly unlikely related to that character loading by default, that is another problem and we should see your log before we can help with that.
