Updating

Would I gain shorter render times with image files for videos with the new generation NVIDIA  RTX 3000 Graphic Cards? I am looking at updating my computer but I cannot find any reasonable discussion on the subject!

My present old clunker has served me well.It is reliable and does not freeze up or overheat while rendering. But it can take up to 30-40 hours to render 40 Frames at 1900 x1200! The present specs of my computer are:64 Gigs DDR4 RAM,NVIDIA K2200 Graphics Card.Intel i7, on a Window 10 Professional OS.Asrock X99 Extreme Motherboard.

I am looking at an i9 Intel,RTX3060 ti and a Gigabyte Z490 AORUS AX Motherboard with enough slots to update to 128 gigs of RAM.

I am not into Gaming.I just want a faster reliable rendering out of images.

Any advice appreciated. Cheers

It would probably be faster, yes, if only because of the RTX cores.

Besides from what I've seen the k2200 only has 4Gb VRAM, so a lot of scenes wouldn't fit on it and would be rendered with your CPU rather than GPU. And it's a Maxwell card so there's a good chance it won't be supported by Iray anymore in a few versions, Nvidia already removed support for some Maxwell cards. So upgrading that card would make sense I think.

  • Many thanks for your reply.Cheers

  • Biggest problem here in Australia there is not ant RTX 3000 Series Cards avaikable.Due to high demand and short supply.Cheers
