DAZ FIXED THE STORE SEARCH! ...kinda

IT WORKS! THE SEARCH FUNCTION FUNCTIONS LIKE A SEARCH FUNCTION NOW!
After five and a half months, Daz fixed the store search. Thank you, Daz, I can now cease complaining and return to blessing you with my thoughts.
I needed socks. I'd seen some socks that I liked recently, but the Storepocalypsed search function only gave results for products with "socks" in the product name (as well as "locks").
Not any more. I searched for "socks" (in order to give an example of how borked the store search was, and I got the result that I would've gotten before November 1st.
YAY!

Well, I just searched "ice cube" and got several "Office" results, three "Alice" results, two "Nice" results, an "Apprentice," BUT I did find the ice cubes in Maclean's Everyday Drinks. The Storepocalypsed search function would not have given me the Everyday Drinks since it didn't have "ice" in the product name.
Now, Daz, how about you refine the search so that it searches for what I type rather than for "words containing _______"? But I'll take the win. THANK YOU.
It appears that the search function now looks in the descriptions of the products as well as the titles. I don't believe that this was the case a few days ago.
For example, I searched for "cloud" and got La Petite Colombe Outfit for Genesis 8 Females and Sci-Fi Spaceship : Judgement in the results. Checking why, I found these in the descriptions:
"...message of love in a cloud of silk..."
"...futuristic, and cloud city scenes."
Searching on "cloud city" still returned Sci-Fi Spaceship : Judgement in the results, as well as Ridge Walk Mountains, among others.
Ridge Walk Mountains came up because of the following text in the description:
"...between city states for hundreds of years.." and "...high enough up in the clouds..."
Searching for "cloud city" (in quotes) returns the same results, so it won't search for the phrase.
I'm elated for the steps in the right direction. I use the store to search for content I own quite often, as searching inside DIM or DS won't give details or images that I can use.
..fish, I finally get fish realted products when I enter "fish"
Does that count as teaching the search function to fish?
Great news.
Now maybe they can look at the ticket I submitted in 2014.

Great news! maybe we can get less "what.where is this?" questions in the forum now
When I search for "ice cube" I only get https://www.daz3d.com/the-daily-routine-office
The other searches I tried do seem to return roughly the same results as others got.
That product is coming up because "ice" is in "office" and cube appears in the prop list.
Admittedly, it would be nice if the search could recognize spaces / context. But it is better than it was.
Yay, searching for 'pub' also gives us 'bars' (and kitchens for some reason), even if 'pub' isn't in the description (like my Tornado Bar) - looks like they fixed the meta-tag search too :)
Checking: 'Shopping Mall' also returns 'Shopping Arcade' - well done Daz :)
I search with Google Images by using this keyword site:www.daz3d.com
I wonder if it's a problem with DAZ's shop search that products by SamSil (Shaft Hair and others) still show them under Artist, but searching for SamSil using the Artist Filter gives no results... or did SamSil leave the building like Elvis?
Props to the DAZ team for working on this!
Hmmm... any chance of getting an exact phrase match? For example I tried to search for "flora hair", the results are no different than searching for
flora hair
though. So for an exact match it seems like google search instead of the store search is still of use? Unless I'm doing it wrong and I need to do something other than using quotes.
Yes, before the update this vendor name was removed.
After the update, all the removed artists and products become partially visible.
I did a search for flora hair and got 6 matches. It's really not that hard to narrow it down from there. At least the store search is functioning like it did before the Storepocalypse and that's progress.
If I were Daz I wouldn't want people searching for stuff I sell using outside search engines but they don't seem to care enough to improve the store search. It's weird that they changed software and couldn't find a way to give us a better customer experience.
...phrase search would be nice,
The Forums in particular need it. We used to have it ages ago back when the forums were held together with bubble gum, duct tape, and, rubber bands. .
Noah LGP has the answer for you. Use the site search from Google. Using the Flora hair as an example, you would type "flora hair site:daz3d.com" (without the quotes, and it return the irem as first in your search results.
Also works for PAs. I used SamSil as an example "SamSil site:www.daz3d.com" (again, without the quotes) and even though there were a couple of forum posts his items did show up.
This is an old internet trick, and you can use it to drill down anything you want to find on a site.

As a test of the store search "update" I looked at my viable store search results for ice cube: (1) Everyday Drinks
Then I searched duckduckgo for [ice cube site:www.daz3d.com] and I got: (1) Everyday Drinks, (2) Fancy Cocktails, (3) Dirty Dishes, (4) Ultimate Ice for Iray, (5) and Alessandro's free ice cube. All of the store results included actual 3D ice cubes, and the phrase "ice cube" was present in the text on the store product page. I don't know what the new store search criteria are, but it's not yet ready for primetime.
With Chrome on my Windows 10 PC, I still can't unhide items I own or show only PC+ items in the search results. None of the check options work but It's nice that the results of the searches are better.
There must be some global changes to the database and how it is manipulated. In a list of search results, the Sort by Arrival Date doesn't change the default Relevance order. Sort by Price High/Low sorts by list price, not current sale price (if any). Not a problem if there are only a few hits, but now you can get 5 or 6 pages of results with common words.
No the store search is still coming up with items out of category.
@Cenobite
True, but I'd rather the search engine return a few results I don't need than withholding 75% of the results I do need, which was happening only a few days ago. Finally, searching for "dinosaur" returns all the products in the store, not just those products that have "dinosaur" in their title.
