Due to continuing confusion over the Hooded Cloak and the Hooded Cloak packs, we have decided to rename the Hooded Cloak Pack to the Medieval Cloaks. You will notice this in the new file names for the Hooded Cloak Packs and the metadata on products requiring it has been updated.

We hope that this will end the confusion on the cloaks.

Updated products -
Hooded cloak Pack for genesis 1 females - Medieval Cloaks for Genesis Females
Hooded Cloak Pack for Genesis 2 Female(s) - Medieval cloaks for Genesis 2 Females
OOT Styles for the hooded cloak Pack - OOT Styles for Medieval Cloaks
Princess of Eire 2
Princess of China 2
Princess of India 2
Princess of Darkness
Princess of Autumn
Cloaked Beauty
Capable for the Hooded Cloak Pack - Capable for the Medieval Cloaks

The urls to the Medieval cloaks, capable and OOT Styles have been updated to reflect the name changes along with the name change on the products.

In the future we will make sure names aren't as confusing as this product was.

And what of those of us that have it already under the old name? SO we won't get any other updates unless we pay more money or will you guys make sure that those of us that bought the packs (more than once I might add) get our updates (probably with name changes and what ever else?

Screen grab below. As you can see I have the Hooded Cloak (I guess bought twice) and the Hooded Cloak Pack (bought once).

Not sure what you mean Ramwolf.. the update was a name change. the product sku and all of that hasn't changed. Just the name. But instead of the Hooded Cloak Pack the files are now called Medieval cloaks. No need to pay more money. just either use DIM or go to your product library and download the files.

The hooded cloak hasn't changed and it looks like you either have 2 of the hooded cloaks (note the missing pack there) installed or you have an older version of one of the hooded cloak's installed where the pathing changed.

Honestly it was a name change. it's like an update.

Cool. Yea, I did a search in the data folder for the "cloak" and from all the folders and files it found there was NO folder that just said "hooded cloak" but there was one that was named "hooded cloak pack" so maybe the older ones got pushed in there or got deleted by DIM or something. I guess I should just delete those older files since I think the last pack of cloaks has all the morphs for various female G2 figures. Are the males getting this update too?

and here is the confusion lol :)

Ok the Hooded cloak Pack (Now Medieval Cloaks) is the 3 pack of cloaks for the genesis and genesis 2 females
Hooded cloaks is the original cloak one that has been refitted over and over.

The Hooded Cloak was not updated.
The Hooded Cloak Pack - (Medieval cloaks now) has been updated.

I know that i have updated the Hooded cloaks, but i think i need to pull them all down again and get their pathing straightened up.

I think you are mostly talking about the Original hooded cloaks. - again they haven't been updated. They are refitted for each figure. There is a genesis and genesis 2 versions. And for most of the texture sets for the Hooded cloak these are what you need.

Moyra's Princess 2 series requires the Medieval Cloaks which was the Hooded Cloak Pack.
So if you are using the older textures - ie full circle and the Princess 1 series and those you need the Hooded Cloak -whatever generation you are using

Princess 2 textures will require the Medieval cloak..

Does this make sense? This is kind of why we renamed the Hooded cloak PACK to Medieval cloaks as there was a lot of confusion on it.

But if it doesn't matter to me what names my Something Cloaks have and I don't use metadata, do I need to download the update?

no you don't have to but it may get confusing - say a year from now. When something might require the medieval cloaks and you don't have them with the right name. That's about the only thing i can think of if you don't update. :)

Just sent in a Help Ticket, apparently, my Hooded Cloak Pack for Genesis Females never updated to the new name in DIM. Worse, there are no downloadable files in my Product Library!

    The files are up now.

What about It's A Wrap, SKU: 18249? It does go into a Hooded Cloak Pack folder, that too might confuse later when searching for stuff.

    Update:
For some reason when I looked that up it didn't show as being sold any longer, now it its... hmmm...

My apologies if this is considered hijacking, but I've found very limited hits on the subject of cloaks and since there are folks here who are into cloaks, this may be the best place I can ask.

Anybody got tips on getting a hood down, off the head? I have characters who like cloaks, but sometimes (actually, quite often,) they find themselves indoors. It's impolite to walk about inside with one's hat on or hood up.

Taking the cloak off completely (or making the hood invisible) technically works, but not quite what I'm going for. ;)

Edit: Grr. Product page says there's a convenient morph. Where!? I've looked at the base and every body part down to the Hood and can't find that morph.

Edit edit: "Medieval Cloaks," which I seem not to have, lists that morph. "Hooded Cloak," which I do seem to have (according to the store) does not list that morph. :( Am I out of luck unless I buy another hood?

Now I see the confusion this thread was about...!

OK, maybe a stupid question but...

Is all of this because the Gen & Gen2 cloaks are totally unrelated to the V4/V4 etc cloaks and they don't share UV maps?

    LATER...

OK now I see that there is still a Hooded Cloak for Gen2, which I assume does take the old textures and a Medieval Cloak which I assume is entirely different?

Yes, "Hooded Cloak" for G1/G2 is indeed the G1/G2 version of the classic hooded cloak, and "Hooded Cloak Pack" (now "Medieval Cloaks") is a totally different set.

    LOL exactly.

The hooded cloak - there was a body handle on the hood that you could use to move the hood up or down however while it did work it didn't necessarily look correct.

The image is the medieval cloak's hood down morph which does look very natural.

I think getting the Medieval cloak would be a good investment mostly because new texture sets are probably going to be using them. (not saying the hooded cloak won't be) but moyra's princesses do use the cloak in the medieval cloaks rather than the hooded cloak.

Thanks for the details. Yeah, the more I looked at the new(er) set, I saw all the little details, along with the function and the package pretty much sold itself. I'm quite glad for the 48% off.

Darned quality products at affordable prices... >.<</p>
