Turn Off Fake Contrast?

Is there a way to adjust or turn off the fake contrast when you're looking at an environment from underneath, while in textured or smooth shaded mode?

It's borderline-impossible to judge when a character's feet are clipping through the floor if everything you see is black.

I'm aware there are other viewport modes which'll let you see that more easily, but I prefer to keep my framerate in the double digits.

Especially given how fidgety and imprecise the viewport transforms are.

i wish the Purple clay pre-render of the Filament viewport mode was an option.

I keep forgetting Filament even exists, honestly.

Filament was such a disappointment that I have ignored it since I first tried it out. But yes, I totally agree with your OP - some way of seeing the actual contact instead of total shadow would be a big help.
