Why do letters need cielings and dividers in side of them? I could see it for 3d printing, but is there any other reason?

Do you mean why have dimensional lettering? There's a variety of uses: signage, photo shoot props, etc. Many people want to make dimensional lettering for various situations in a story or graphical presentation of some kind.

No. If you go through the pictures one shows the parts of the letter. Top, bottom, front, etc. There are also a cieling, seperate from the top and two little dividers. The dividers would be useful in 3d printing for added stability but I have no idea what a letter needs a cieling seperat from the top for.

They can be used for making signs.

You can put a magnet in and put them on the fridge, but why cielings?

I think the ceiling and dividers are just parts of the modular backdrop included, not part of the letters. Going by the way they look with the transparent shaders, they are regular solids.

Yes, that is a set in which you can place the letters/words if you want to render them on their own rather than as part of a scene - it isn't the structure of the letters.
