I have a problem using the geometry editor to hide parts of the geometry of a object. When I have duplicates of that object in the scene after some time the duplicates get the same part hidden. Is that a bug or a feature and how can i avoid that?
You need to break the link - e.g. export one as OBJ, reimport it, and use the Geometry Editor on that. Duplicates are all linked to thes ame underlying geometry so any change made to oen will affect all.
