Can a dForce Weight map be switched off?

Here's my idea: my G8F has a long gown that she wants to (sometimes) hold up in her hand. Say, right-thigh raised and grabbed. So I'm thinking that I could create a weight map for where the gown is grabbed so that it would hang from that point which has the simulation strength reduced to zero. But if I save the gown, will that weight map be permanent of can I turn it on and off?
Another option is to use the geometry tool and create an area of polygons which can then be switched on or off for Visible in Simulation. However, I'm thinking that this method does not give the same kind of fall-off that a weight map does.

I believe any weight map is permanent, but the influence of a dForce Modifier Weight Node can't be adjusted, unlike, say, D-Former weight maps which can be dialed out and back in without changing the weight map itself. However, you can actually unparent the dForce Modifier Weight Node, and put it back with the weight map intact. I tried it and it actually works, but I didn't save the scene and reload it. You can make one weight map per item, and it doesn't matter which one you parent back, the weight maps on the item don't change. You can even delete the dForce Modifier Weight Node, create a new one, and the weight map is still available on the item where it was created.
Then again, have you looked into dForce Magnet? Sounds like just the thing you need, if you are planning on doing that a lot.
Yes, I forgot that I had the dForce Magnet product. I've just now watched the tutorial again and can see why it has slipped into the oblivion of my "bought but never used" pile. It is such a fiddly procedure to achieve such a seemingly simple result. Marvelous Designer can do the same thing in a couple of minutes (or less) because it has pinning and the ability to drag the cloth around during the sim.
Ah well, what a pity, never mind.
