OT: Snowbound in Buffalo?

So far the big snow around Buffalo missed me. But it's only about 40 miles north and a little change in the wind could move it down here.

We thankfully only got a mild ground cover in Rochester. It stuck, but the roads are clear.

I live in North Buffalo, close to Kenmore, and it was mostly South Buffalo, Orchard Par, Lancaster, Lackawana, and that area that got hit really hard. The north towns got off relatively easy. I think I have maybe one foot of snow. I didn't get more than a dusting yesterday.

Off topic but: Every time I hear the name Buffalo I keep thinking of the town in Texas between Houston and Dallas. I forgot that there is a Buffalo in New York State. Thanks for the reminder.

A chat friend logged on last nite, and the first thing he asked me was how much snow I got. I told him it had been sunny all day here in the Big Apple. I told him, of course, it could've been upstate NY, so I'm glad to see I was right, and he wasn't crazy.

I guess whatever "forecast" he had seen indicating snow in NY, didn't give enough details as to where in NY there was snow, or he missed it.

I'm not sure whether this counts as a relevant interjection or a crime against humanity http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkaIM9_AM3k

Big apple here too. I'll take the cold weather and wind over lotsa snow. I'm tired of having to dig my car out of snow during winter. The past 2 years was too much digging.

Yes, I'm always looking out for other New Yorkers... A damn strange lot we are, and you never know what we are up to!

It's Frikin' freeeezing over here in Suffolk county, I'm close to the water too, so that probably isn't helping any.

For you folks that have to be out tonight, stay safe and warm!

I saw pictures of the thruway. Brrr. I'm glad I don't live upstate anymore. Although, Buffalo always did get more snow than where I lived a little further south, I always knew winter had firmly set in by the time Buffalo got the first snow. Now, for the first time in ever, I'm going to be snow free during the winter. You poor snowbound are in my thoughts though.

I'm in Ithaca. We get a lot of snow compared to most of the country, but the big lake-effect snows that hit other parts of upstate NY usually miss us (this one did). Just a few flurries, but it sure is cold! Take care and stay warm, everyone!

Good thing no snow here as people in the south tend to be clueless with snow and ice and driving on those roads.

Well, let me know if you're ever in town again. :)

Ithaca is a nice place for weddings, if the weather cooperates. Although we had ours in Watkins Glen, on the lake. Belated congratulations! :)

I wouldn' know anymore, I'm down in North Carolina (it will be 70 on Monday btw) and every other person I meet is from Rochester.
Stay warm and away from the snow sharks and $30 parking at Jones Beach.

Either they go 2 MPH or they do 65 on your tail through a school zone and think they can stop because they're in a truck. Tap your breaks, whatch 'em spin off into the woods I say.

Just left that area. I was in Dryden for almost 20 years. I have to say that even though we got a lot of snow, the highway department is very good about clearing the roads. Except for that time a few years ago when all the roads were closed because of the big blizzard,I was always able to drive around fairly quickly as the roads were cleared within hours with the exception of the few places where the snow blew across the roads because they bordered a field with no trees. I do NOT miss the winds of the fingerlakes.

Now, I'm in FL and every other person I meet is from the City. The rest seem to be from Upstate. :) I swear I hear more NY accents down here than when I lived in Dryden. Also, I've traded hearing Japanese and French a lot there to hearing Spanish and Haitian Creole down here.

While it dipped down to the 60s yesterday, I'm enjoying my first snow free winter in forever. I do kind of miss seeing the first snow, though. That was always the best part of winter. It was all of the rest of the winter that I didn't like too well. The snow just never seems to go away all winter long until I'm ready for spring in by February.

You guys up north stay warm.

Yeah, really only have good things to say about the snow plows here, they're on the ball. I grew up in Wisconsin which gets almost as much snow and they were okay at clearing it but not as good as New York.

I heard that Buffalo will get an additional 3 feet of snow. Didn't the region already receive 5 or 6 feet? Wow. I'll visit Buffalo during the spring or summer. I need to save some money for the non-stop air plane ticket.
