Merging scenes but keep Environment/Tonemapper settings

Looking for an easy way to handle this situation: Very often I have past scenes that I want to grab characters or scene elements from. Typically I will merge that old scene into my current scene and delete everything from the old scene i don't need.

Ever since the new method of handling Tonemapper and Environment Options, doing this merge overwrites whatever my current render and environment settings are and replaces them with those of the old scene. Is there an easy way to merge without bringing in the Tonemapper & Environment options? (Or a way to be sure to preserve my current settings before the merge, preferably without having to create new presets?) Thank you for any help.

Yeah, just export your environment and tone mapping as a scene subset and merge that in after you bring in your characters and such. I'm doing that right now with something I'm working on.

Copy before/paste after, or save out the nodes as a Scene subset (which is cheating on not saving a "preset"), or resave the scene to be merged with the nodes deleted (which is even more of a cheat).

Thank you both - Ok, so copy before, paste after sounds like the simplest, though I guess I may want to resort to saving the scene subsets along the way to have more confidence in preserving them, and to be sure I don't accidentally forget the copy paste.

You can now undo loading content.

If you use lots of similar settings frequently, saving a Render Settings preset is lightning fast. Then you can easily load it after the merged scene borks your settings. Be sure to check the render times/samples because I've noticed them getting reset to default at random.
