Looking for Aura effect

I'm sure its in here somewhere, but darned if I can find it! Can anyone suggest an "Aura effect" , a glowing field or some such, that would be able to be applied to either of the G8 series characters?

There is also the built in 'Bloom' effect that's in Render settings.

You could also do what the pros do and use render layers (canvases in D|S) and render in layers, then bring them to a compositing app. That will give you tons of control and many different effects (light rays, bloom, depth of field, etc.) that you can adjust in realtime with slider rather than re-rendering.
