Daz has a spotty record of maintaining their own established standards (Smart Content, "Core Figure" vs. "base character," PC+ add-on tagging), I don't think it's feasible to expect that they will implement new ones. I can't even get them to update the page link listing their flagship product after six months.
As jestmart says it's to late to undo the damage already done, but going forward things need to change, otherwise G8.1 is going to be an even bigger headache than G8 is.
One of the main problems I see is lack of knowledge, there isn't a whole lot of info out there on how it's "meant" to be done, as a result people are copying what they already see.
How many vendors and store staff, and not just DAZ staff but also at all of the other sites, know that every DSF file that goes into a base figures Morphs folder, needs to have a unique internal asset ID.
It's clear that info isn't common knowledge, as we wouldn't have so many Duplicate Formula threads if it was, as those errors are a direct result of not using unique IDs.
Lets take Rin and Midori as an example, both of them use the asset ID's of "eCTRLEyesClosedR" & "eCTRLEyesClosedL". The first problem is those asset ID are already taken, the files that use them are part of the starter essentials. With just one of those characters installed you wont get any DF errors, but you will have a code conflict, which could cause strange things to happen when you try to close the eyelids on the figure, with two or more installed you have even more code conflicts, plus you now have the DF errors on top of that.
I sometimes wonder if people think the DAZ naming system is set in stone, so they have to name things the same way. Couldn't be further from the truth if they tried, "eCTRLEyesClosedL" could just as easilly be called "BuggerLugsEyesShut1", or in the case of Midori "ErgouMidoriEyesClosedL".
A little disapointed Rin hasn't been fixed, especially as last year I did a "how to" for her, so the info on how to do it is there. It's not like it takes long to do, mind you it would probably take someone at DAZ longer to find the files than it would to edit them.
