Anyone else having spikes in CPU usage in Studio4.15?

I am on the newest version unless a new one has come out in the past couple days. I have process lasso going and  pretty often I have the issue of CPU usage spiking to 100% for several seconds at a time then  lowering to normal only to spike to 100% again a couple seconds later... I know it is Studio  because when I kill Studio the spikes go away and my computer acts as normal. It was like this in the previous version I had installed as well. I don't know what causes it, but it seems to happen after I have been rendering  for a while. Has anyone else had this issue?

Even   if I do, shouldn't Studio release the  cores when not rendering at all? This is after I have rendered something and Studio is idle that I am talking about.

...checked to see if the same was happening as I've been noticing some odd behaviour lately when using the Daz programme.  Lately I've been noticing a "lag" when selecting content folders in the programme library which I've never occurred before . I'll click on a folder in the content tree and then a swirly will appear for a while before the folder opens. I also notice some sort of activity on the lower task bar when this happens but it occurs too quickly to catch..

Even with the Daz programme closed I am seeing a lot of activity on the Library drive ("D").  In Task Manager I also see several postgres.exe processes running.

Under Resource Manager there are also several instances of the DAZ Content Cluster open and running even though the programme is shut down. (the folder for the Content Cluster also shows in the main content library data tree in the content tab and it shouldn't).

This all makes me wonder if there is an some sort of online link open in background

I've been running the 4.12.0.47 beta since it was released, however, all this is something that has only been occurring recently .

I've been having this exact issue and it's driving me absolutely mad. I love the denoiser and the high cpu has been canceling it out every single time. All of my renders are now extremely pixelated and even usig denoiser features in other programs don't help. This issue is ruining my renders, but I'm curious to know if you've found a solution? I've no clue what to do.

I've not had this issue (yet?) using (the I guess by now older) version 4.15.0.14beta. What version number(s) is/are having this issue?

  • To be honest, I don't know what I did, but I don't think I have this problem anymore. The version I am using is 4.15.0.2 and as I said before the issue I had was that DS would eat up all the CPU then puke it back up only to eat it again over and over, but I don't have that problem anymore, I am not even sure what I did to stop it now. The only thing I can think of is that I stopped all other processes on the computer when I wanted to use DS and then didn't try to do anything else while rendering, but that doesn't tell me what I did to stop it from eating the CPU after rendering was over and done, I'll see if I can remember though.

    Using DS offline or online?

DAZ Connect and/or database working or trying to work in the background?...

I was always online, but I don't think DIMM could ever use all the CPU power of my CPU I have a Ryzen 7. and I know that it doesn't take that much to do whatever, Besides I normally have it turned off and only open it if I am downloading something.

What I meant was, do you log in to DS or are you using it in offline mode?

DAZ Connect or the database would not probably cause spiking when everything is working correctly, but when they have a problem (for example not able to connect), it seems that they go into 'panic mode', drawing all the resources into solving their problem at that moment (never mind the user). I have seen that with the database and observed the same type of behaviour by DAZ Connect on several logfiles here on the forum.

I am generally online because I have a decent net connection so that is not the problem I had.

That is not what I'm asking. Logging in when opening DS has nothing to do with using the net at the same time.

Do you log in to DS when you start it, or do you use DS in offline mode (without logging in)?

I notice occasionally Studio can get caught up on a smoothing modifier - usually when quickly inputting slider values and not giving the program chance to calculate the updated modifier between each input. It'll hit the first cpu core around 16% which causes significant lag in the ui and navigating the scene in the viewport. It usually resolves itself within a few minutes (tea break time).
