Gold flecks in render, help

I have messed something up and now have gold (ish) flecks in my render. I always have noise that slowly disappears as the iray render progresses, but now the noise has goldish particles that take forever to render away. (the normal white noise probably takes a long time too, but it isn't as noticeable)

Can someone help me get rid of these metalic particles?

  • I figured it out. It is the firefly filter.

  • Does anyone know the best setting for this. It seems like zero...

The best setting for it seems to be to turn it on, leave it alone and render a bit longer.  Fiddling with it seems to cause grief.  Any remaning issues tend to be related to the materials and lighting rather than the Firefly filter.

Also, with issues like this, it's helpful to see the image in question.  Sometimes other users have had experience with the assets in question, and can offer specific advice.

Thanks, setting it to 0 returned things to "normal". From what I am reading, going above 0 can change the scene lighting dramatically. I couldn't find anything on negative values. I assume it is the same. I guess I will be doing some testing later.

To help with that issue, if you have the option is under the Filtering section turn on Post Denoiser Available, Post Denoiser Enable and Post Denoiser Denoise Alpha.. This will help a lot with getting rid of fireflies and other noise..

I also find setting Pixel Filter to Mitchell and the Pixel Filter Radius to 1.10.. You can also have the Noise Degrain Radius set to 1, it does help.. :)

I would use the Intel denoiser. It's done outside of Daz and therefore after the render finishes. I use it on all my pieces to clean up any last bits of grain. The best part is that because it's done as part of your post-work process, you can apply it and blend in as much or as little as you need.

Don't worry about not being able to use the post denoiser - you loose too much detail with it anyways.
