Genesis 8 Female taking 15 - 20 minutes to load
This just started a couple weeks ago out of the blue. I have no idea what has caused it. Since then I have been having nothing but problems. I have had to do a clean uninstall and reinstall of Daz Studio several times.
I have tried deleting all the morphs that I was getting warnings for in the log. I have tried deleting all of my paths but 1 from the content directory. I read that I may have too many characters installed, which by the way, is just ridiculous. I didn't know there was a limit. So, I was going to uninstall all of the ones I don't use. Well, install manager no longer recongnizes what I have installed. So I guess I need to do that manually but how do I know if I get all of the files???
I am just at my wit's end with ALL of this.
If anybody can help me it would be GREATLY appreciated.

There isn't a limit, but the more morphs (and, more to the point, the more links between morphs) the longer the load. A sudden jump is odd - you weren't getting Duplicate Formula errors?
No, no warnings or errors. It just started happening one day. I can't explain it.
Go into your log file (Help > Troubleshooting > Log, IIRC), find anything that's not loading correctly, and uninstall it.
Well, I don't know exactly what fixed it but this is what I did:
First I totally reset my PC. I didn't have that much on it anyways.
I reinstalled Install Manager and Daz Studio.
I checked to see how G8F loaded and it only took a coupl of seconds.
I added my external library to the content manager and that is where the trouble started.
So, I checked in install manager to see what files get installed with G8 and I deleted them from my external library and viola! She loads in less that a minute now.
The weird things is I did all of this before doing the reset and it didn't change anything. I guess something got fixed with the reset.
Anyways, all is well now.
It's not morphs per se, but how it drives the smoothing and fitting algorothm crazy. There is an infinite loop that gets created when smoothing is on and morphs start acting with fitted objects. All of a sudden it just goes insane. Reinstalling likely turned off the smoothing, which will keep you happy until it blows up again. The joys of asynchronous subroutines.
An infinite loop would never stop, and smoothing doesn't - as far as I know - affect load times. A smoothing modifier can certainly slow down posing and shaping once the figure is loaded, though not infinitely.
I had a similar problem and solved it by renaming the folder with the morphs (Change PATH:\DAZ Runtime\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs\ to \Morphs Full\), making a new folder with the old name (i.e. Morphs) and then manually copying only the morphs I really needed into the new \Morphs\ folder and then simply manualling adding when I needed later when warning popped up loading a character.
We should not have to do this! This is a key issue with this software that causes the program to not be worth using. I have too much content and what a mess! If the morphs and other deformantions were just built in this would not be a problem. It is a sales issue, only if you buy it and install it can it work, but with so many people make competing products, and bad installs! This breaks everything. Need a diagnostic Daz studio tool that checks to see if something is breaking the load times and give us the the option to erase it. It has gotten to the point where I use a simple approach. If I am not using it! Uninstall it. If you need it install it. This should not be the case but that is what Daz Connect was trying to do but it is worse than DIM. Consequently, We don't need new features. We need the content system revamped to be something that works! We expecially need the morphs to be built in, and whey you pay you get a serial that unlocks it. We need Daz Studio to tell us that this new installed product is slowing down load times and give us the option to uninstall it. Maybe if the content system was seperate from the main program this might help? I am not a programmer so I have no idea what could work? I just know that I have stop using Daz Studio and have taken up Blender and other 3D programs to create my 2D stills. This is a shame because I liked the convience of Daz Studio.
