Dear sir,

I have just one question: how safe it is to install and use Daz Studio 4.7.0.12_Win64 right now ?

Thanks

Compared to what? As an upgrade to 4.6 there have been few reports of trouble, as a replacement OS for a nuclear power station I really wouldn't advise it.

so when stuff says compatible with 4.7, does that mean it won't work in 4.6?

can't cope with an upgrade before my new covers are done

The updates to the G2F/M content are in the Starter Essentials bundles, so if you want that you will need to redownload the whole lot I'm afraid.

Content should work in 4.6, and even 4.5 though some features (such as HD morphs) wouldn't be available. Plug-ins that have been updated for 4.7 probably won't work in 4.6, but that is essentially the DAZ plug-ins - as far as I know most others will work in 4.6, as should scripts and shaders.

Haven't seen Starter Essentials in my DIM, are they already in with the DS download?

Starter Essentials should ahve their own lines - there are three sets, one for Gen 1, one for G2F and one for G2M with the latter also having PoserCFs.

If you have the official auto-installer, it'll search for any updates to the products you've installed with it (including Daz Studio, itself)..

Not at all sure if it does the same for products you haven't installed through it.

You mean in the "Compatible Software" section of the store page? That bit automatically updates all over the store whenever there's a new D|S version, it isn't a bit of text "four point seven", it's a placeholder for "insert the current version number here". The only real significance, I think, is that it means the item does have .duf files for D|S4.5+ — if the compatibility only says "DAZ Studio" with no number, then it's the old file standard with .daz scenes and old-style script files.

Just upgraded to DazStudio4.7.0.12. Seems to work fine. Check out the work on my graphic novel The Nocturnes at:

Yup. Verifying this. Hope they get it straightened out soon.

There is one annoyance as well. When changing letters in the middle of the file name on the render tab. Every time a key is pressed (Except the arrow keys), it sends the curse back to the end of the field. It makes it a hassle to change numbers in the middle of the file name. It no longer just dose that with the image size fields.

It's like trying to stab food on your plate with a fork, when some one else is sliding the table around under you... or eating in rough seas.

Stabbing single errant peas springs to mind :-P
Yeah. I've seen mention of this in the first threads as the upgrade was rolled out. That's why I didn't bother mentioning it in the forums, knowing (?) that such a flaw would rightfully be picked up by the techies and dealt with, as it is really a simple coding prob. ... It drives me nuts, along with having to re-size the pop-up render window which collapses each time on exit, especially doing test renders (which I do so very often, and just want to alter the file name slightly
But 'they' have to be aware of it by now, so I'm sure it'll be corrected, ehhh, S--N ;-)

Ahh, not just me pea-ed off (stabbed or otherwise ;)) with that ruddy render options dialog that refuses to remember it's last position and state? :)
