HFS Ultimate Shapes Morphs and Monetized DAZ to Unreal Engine Asset

Hi! I am new to DAZ, and I was wondering will I be able to monetize any 3d asset I bought that was edited with HFS Ultimate Shapes Morphs? It doesn't have the Interactive License, but it only edits the 3d asset and is not actually the 3d asset itself so I was wondering if I could use it as a way to make fast creature bases then add to it to make actual 3d assets? If not can someone send me a link to something similar that has the Interactive License? Thank you!

Could you be more specific on how you want to monetize the assets?  That could mean anything from renders to including models in games to 3D printing miniatures to sell.

  • If you want to redistribute the mesh in a game, you need an Interactive License to do so, and if one isn't listed for sale on the product, you can file a ticket to request it be added. Even with an Interactive License, the mesh cannot be redistributed without being encapsulated in a game.

  • I am planning to buy the Interactive License for Gen8 models then edit them with the morphs would that be ok? if not is there something similar to the morphs that have the I.L?

If I understand you correctly, you want to sell creature morphs/characters based on other morphs. Interactive license does not give you the right to do this. You should look at merchant resource morphs.

It is important to note that there is absolutely no amount of modification or work put in that crosses some line to allowing use of derivative work. None.

So using someone's texture or shape or anything? The moment you use ANY of it, you need explicit permission to distribute it. It doesn't matter if you totally paint it over or whether people can 'prove' it; your ability to get away with something isn't the same as permission.

There are, however, a bunch of merchant resources for shapes and textures that _do_ give you permission, usually with at least a good faith amount of modification and not repackaging it as yours. Check products for specific information.

If you do not see clear permission to use something, assume you do not have permission.

  • So, so long as the person puts up an Interactive License option the asset can be used as a monetizable game asset but it cannot be used as a standalone 3d model for sale in Daz market or anywhere without consent from the artist themselves.

Thank you all for clarifying that and have a good day!
