Conflicting morphs

I have two characters with the same name who have conflicting morphs.  The one however is asking for files, including a couple of morph files, from a base character that I currently don't have (it works OK without it, the morphs are just different).  As far as I'm aware though, installing the required base character won't make any difference in respect to the conflicting morphs, it's still a problem that needs to be reported.  Is that correct?

If you mean Duplicate Formulas then yes, please report.

Is that called Duplicate Formulas?  It looks like this under Shaping:

If you don't get an error on load it's just a label conflict. In the Parameters pane option menu>Preferences (that is the lined button at top-left in your screen shot) turn off Consolidate Properties and you will see each slider separately, you can then click the gear icon>Parameter Settinsg and change the Label (not the Name) to differentiate them. Should still be reported though.

The only error I get on load is for the files for the missing required base character, so looks like it's a label conflict then.  However, the Shaping tab doesn't have a Consolidate Properties entry, the Parameters tab does and it's already enabled but that doesn't seem to affect the dials on the Shaping tab.

BTW, I checked the logfile and I get a lot of errors when loading one of the characters which don't seem to be related to this problem (the first lines about Ellithia 8 and a number of others later are about the missing base character, but the rest makes no sense).  Any idea what they are? Textfile attached.

Use the parameters pane then, I think the missing option in the Shaping pane is a bug.

If it's a bug it must be old, I see it in both 4.12 and 4.15.

Anyway, it works with the Parameters pane, wasn't aware that you could find the morphs there.  DAZ support said they couldn't reproduce the problem (I've just checked on another PC, same problem there), maybe they have Consolidate Properties turned off.  Thanks!

    Starting from the top

First six are missing textures and morph asset files, going by the rest of the log you don't have them, so the chunks of code in the DUF file that's looking for them creates those missing file errors.

Next two are vendor cock ups, those two files have been manually edited, and the vendors didn't check the log file to make sure they hadn't ****ed it up.

Next nine are a case of bad "parent" data, DS doesn't know which mesh to assign the morph assets to, so it kicks out three errors for each bad file, and then doesn't load the bad assets.

The rest of them are missing asset/file warnings, most of which are correctives looking for assets from other products, in the case of a lot of them they are looking for G8F's Expressions pack.
Not all of them are correctives, there are morph assets looking for other morph assets which you don't have, as a result some of your purchased characters wont look anything like their promos.

After all of that it then runs into another bad parent data when it tries to load the eyelashes.

Thanks!  Yes, I know some of the errors are caused by the missing required base character but there seemed to be a lot of unrelated errors also.  Wonder if some of D3Ds tools can fix some of it.

"Could not find target property for formula" & "Could not find output property for formula", those two make up virtually all of the errors you will find in a log file. Basically they mean the same thing, File A is trying to create an ERC link with the asset ID in File B, and failing to do so.

Not owning the "required" product is one reason for it to fail, and I'm not just talking base characters, 356 out of the 482 errors in the log you posted are caused by "corrective morphs" looking for files in https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-female-expressions.

So no I doubt if Ralf's tools will help you any.

OK, thanks.  No I don't have those Genesis 8 Female expressions, don't really like them but if having them installed can fix some of these problems I guess it might be worth getting them anyway.

Another morph conflict which was confusing to track down since the character name is misspelled on the Scene and Shaping tabs which you may not notice at first, plus the other product is not a character but a morph pack.  The two conflicting products are:

    https://www.daz3d.com/clairissa-for-cj-8-and-genesis-8-female
    https://www.daz3d.com/mesmerizing-faces--bodies-for-genesis-8-female

It's been reported so a fix should hopefully be on the way.
