Why do PAs optimize clothing for 8.1 for heavens sake?

OK, first of all I did buy some 8.1 bundles recently but I still use G8F much more often. I'm just not that used to the new shaders among other things. But what I really do not understand is the issue with products like for example clothing.
Take the most recent Jacqueline 8.1 Alternate Reality Bundle. There are three clothing products included:
- dForce Betty Bot 6000 Outfit for G8 anf 8.1 Females
- Sci-Fi Heavy Armor for G8.1 Females
- The Western Knight Series 05 for G8F
One that officially supports both, one the supports 8.0 and one that supports 8.1.
Now all cloth load without problems on G8.1F as do all other older G8F cloth. But only two load on G8F without problems.
The Scri-Fi Heavy Armor triggers a ton of auto-fit dialogues which need to be set to full body as there is no G8F projection to be used. Even worse all the H.materials do not have any effect as they expect an 8.1 as base.
Now the product of course states that it is for G8.1F only. But still I don't understand what that optimization for 8.1 is good for as it only causes problems on G8F and 8.1 would be supported with an optimization for G8F anyhow.
Or am I wrong here?

Have you tried the Scene Identification trick?
The body uses the same rigging so they shoudl work just fine. When I try to auto-fit G8 clothing to G8.1, I don't believe I get a pop-up. But even so, you can just change the scene identification and it should work.
I mean, the naughty bits for 8.1 fit fine on the base G8F without modification and do the grafting..
I guess the heads are different a bit, so might need a little something.. But still I don't really get the point of 8.1 anything, as the new shader works on anything and the new UVs are just weird.
(and 8.1 still doesn't function with power pose or visemes without workarounds and extra steps)
I haven't found a way to do this reliably. I have the script that was floating around, but it seems to only work one way. (8.1 to 8)
I agree this seems like a really stupid limitation. The whole point of 8.1 is that it's supposed to be compatible with everything for 8!
