Looking for experiences with Pentium Gold processors.

I'm trying to piece together an inexpensive relatively modern computer for family members who don't need a lot of power and are wanting to move out of the dark ages. Before commiting to purchase, I'm hoping to hear from someone who has had experience with the Pentium Gold processor in casual computer use situations.
I'm going finish upgrading an existing semi-upgraded 12 year old HP desktop, by adding a new motherboard, new CPU, and new RAM. I will use the existing HP case, power supply, case fan, 500GB Crucial MX500 SSD and 500GB WD-Black Hard drive.
Planned purchases are:
Motherboard: MSI B460M PRO VDH WiFi; LGA1200 socket, WiFi is built into motherboard
CPU: Intel Pentium Gold G-6400 (2-core, 4 thread), 4.0GHz
RAM: Corsair 2x4GB DDR4 2666MHz C19
Total cost $270 (US) includes shipping & tax

There's a review here that's a few years old.
Thank you. Interesting but it's talking about the 5400 series. using the LGA 1151 socket.
The processor I'm looking at is the "Pentium Gold G-6400" using the LGA 1200 socket and Intel 400 chipset. Currently at Amazon for $70. It looks to have the same UHD on-chip graphics as the 5400 though. Paired with the motherboard I picked out it should have decent enough graphics for household work.
I realize the parts I picked are none of them contenders in a derby but rather good steady plow-horses for a bargain.
I just sort of wanted to test the waters for people who had tried this Pentium Gold beast and were annoyed by some unexpected got-cha.
Trying to find a decent new computer off-the-shelf for less than $600 is like fishing for rocks with a hook. If I can squeeze some modern zippy guts into a 12 year old box for less than $300 and have it work unannoyingly for typical household jobs for the next 10 years, then I and the new owners of the box will be happy.
