Does DAZ give up the Pro Bundles?

I really miss them. Reasonable price and various subjects. I owned almost all the G8 pro bundles, yet it seems that this year none of such a bundle come out. :-(

Yeah it seems they are going for more general theme bundles instead.
So sad. The deal becomes worse and worse this year.
Which is one thing, but they're charging more for products that are not that interesting. I'm a pro bundle addict. I would drop $110 on a good pro bundle like clockwork. But two characters, a pair of dresses, a hair prop, a pose set, and a building, all variations of stuff we've seen before, and you're charging me out the yang? Dude. No.
Also, sick of white girls. I have more white girls than I know what to do with. I would like a Black 8.1 man and woman. I need them for my covers.
No male bundles at all since Torment. Him I liked.
And that season pass was an insult to my intelligence.
+1 for the old pro bundles and deals
Fully agree. I do hope for a diverse community, sadly, the market is interest-driven.
No, the market is market-driven. A lot of PAs have tried their hands at creating other things and having found them not profitable, returned to creating items that are.
If half as many people buy the current bundles as bought the Pro Bundles, Daz makes the same amount of money, since the new bundles are about twice the price of the Pro Bundles. If there are lower sales but the same profits, Daz can continue to do this. So, get used to it.
since the bundles changed, I've not purchased them, even to the point of not buying most of the main characters either, or most of the content. My overall purchases have become much more limited overall, and are geared more towards percentage off and products that I've looked at before and thought cool to have.
The older bundle system delived way more bang for the buck even though the poses were overall similar. But, hey, its all about making money. free software that does get "advanced". You have to pay for the upgrades somehow.
Maybe they're (the new bundles) being marketed to the same people who are interested in the Season Pass. I mean. Look at the people who have posted in this thread, so far. None of us are Season Passers.
The last bundle that I bought was Cleopatra 8.1. The last male bundle that I bought was Torment 8.1.
But, yeah. I miss Pro Bundles too.
I'm a Season Passer, but I'm passing for not. I requested a flairectomy, as I didn't appreciate being outted. The poor bundles and their prices are the main reasons I bought the season pass. I was betting they'd stay that way; so far, so good.
I don't miss the old pro bundles, but I don't like the new bundles either. It was the rare bundle that I would have purchased the majority of items separately. I kind of liked the general purpose Staff Picks bundles, because those were generally good quality items. Their only problem is that I already owned most of the items, and there was no discount for owning parts of them. That last part is changing, sort of.
The thing with most Daz Original bundles is that they're full of poses I mostly have duplicates of already. They also include clothing that has mostly nice styling and textures, but usually lacks in the modelling department compared to regular PA clothing. They had nice hair assets, and often good additional characters based on the main figure, but you'd still end up paying for the stuff you don't want.
Then there's the hamster wheel of buying bundles to get a discount on future bundles. I went along with that for a while, but eventually hopped off and now content myself with foraging for the bits and pieces I actually want.
Yeh, sadly
I don't even visit the shop or forum everyday anymore.
I don't get emails either.
Too many changes I don't like.
The Pro bundles were an event. Now there's a damn bundle every couple or so days.
The Genesis 8 Pro Bundles increasingly became something that I didn't care about missing.
The dForce everything, the choice of (dForce) outfits, I think they were less valuable as time went on. Also, as mentioned, over-saturation was an issue, along with the lack of specialness with the base characters. It used to be that I'd care about the base characters a lot more, but now? Not as much.
I don't mind the "smaller" bundles. I like that I can skip one bundle and pick up a different bundle with the base figure, which is nicer than getting a whole Pro Bundle and only using half of it anyway. Finding the right price? I don't know if it's the right pricing or not... I know I've gotten a bundle for both Brooke and Jacqueline so far, though.
I do like 8.1, for whatever that is worth. I like the face rig. I think there's potential in the skin, but there's a learning curve there and I'm more into Toon/Stylized figures these days... so, even if 8.1 base figures are "generic wypipo", I don't care. Each one does the new 8.1 PBR skin a little differently, and it's worth the lesson in each one, IMO.
Yeah, there are indeed many duplications. But the original pro bundles usually come out with many deals, which you may only need to pay a character equivalent price to grab a bundle. As long as you are interested in one or two items of the pro bundle, you can buy the entire bundle. It seems a big event happened when a new pro bundle was released. I tend to be very excited to see the purple banner popping up that I haven't seen since the year 2021 began.
Well, about them being themed bundles now, even the Pro Bundles had them, they just weren't named. In fact, I'd say they often (if not always) had 2 themes in them, one being almost always something modern then the other one being fantasy or scifi. So, in the end for me it sucks just the fact that they split the Pro Bundles in two while keeping the Pro bundle price for each part (or I think one bundle gets the pro bundle price and the other one is slightly cheaper, can't remember right now, still the overall price is much higher). And like it was said, I actually think the SP is for those of us who weren't planning on getting the bundles anyway.
...and some that I've seen include older content.
I never found the Pro Bundles to be that great a deal, because they rarely included $130 worth of content I'd use. Content I can't use has no value to me and likely won't even get downloaded. Although, the barbed wire garter(?) on Victoria 7's nonsensical post apocalyptic stripper is still hilarious, I'll admit. If they weren't half the content for nearly the same price as a pro bundle, the theme bundles might make more logical sense than combining random contemporary and different genre items..
Of course, they never tried to slip an eyelash merchant resource (why?) into a pro bundle, so there's that.
Some of the bundles seem excessively expensive. Like the Staff picks fantasy one. I get that it's got a bunch of stuff, but it's $429 of rather random items (like the basic Horse 2 no Iray materials for the horse, a witch house but no witch/sorcerer and centaurs but no elves) and was pretty much entirely older stuff (or entirely). Maybe if it was like on other sites where you could pick items in bundles and get increasingly higher discounts it would make more sense. So you could buy 4 outfits or the 4 sets and get a % discount, or both and get higher % and so on.
I guess that (especially just before they were "phased out") some Pro bundles do include old content too. Like the Honni 8 Pro bundle. But that was more an exception.
Every time I see this thread I keep thinking about the old DAZ3D FREE BUDDLES campaign...
Poor Buddles... I wonder if they ever let him go.
I don't miss the old Pro bundles, as they usually contained way too much stuff that I had no need for, so I rarely bought any.
I don't like the new "themed" bundles, as they usually contain too little stuff I would have a need for. I haven't bought many...
I do miss the good deals of them Olden Days... even though I didn't get tempted too often to accept one.
the old daz pro bundles were about the only way to get male items hair, and clothing, although the slow encroachment of unisex hair and other items really designed for G8F, made it a crapshoot. I hate the new pro bundles for men now. I don't want to have to buy an environment or Vickies in my male bundles.
It doesn't help that dforce clothing is being produced with dforce substituting for fit. dforce for me, doesn't work well and adds too much time to the render. I prefer conforming outfits.
Yeah, I know the show but go on, and lots of people like dfarce, but count me as not liking it at all.
+1
...in all my years at this, the only pro bundles I voluntarily purchased were VIcky 4.2 (as it included useful items like all the body/head morphs, MATs, a couple pose sets along with hair and a character or two), the Young Teens 5 (a "towfer" as it included both a male and female character as well as no skimpwear), and Edie 8 (as I love the character and pretty much like everything that was included). The others I have (primarily Vicky and Mike 5 - 7 I got free through purchasing software, or a "loyalty" banner).
+2
I haven't bought a new bundle at release for over six months. The male and male-presenting bundles are terrible. Torment's had a cartoony fish-looking lady, and a female character and hair. All of Juan Carlos' bundles had female content, though the worst was the one with a female outfit, a female character, and something for the damn DOG. Only 40% of the content in that bundle was objectively for Juan Carlos and G8M.
The days of good incentives seem to be gone. When I bought Ashan 8's pro bundle I got it, several add-ons, and an additional G8 pro bundle for ~$40. Now it's mostly expensive buy-ins for minimal return and "rewards" you have to spend money to redeem.
I've been having fun with DAZ for about a year now (even bought a new computer specifically for my DAZ hobby). I have a lot to learn, including the pricing and the logic of "deals".
Here's an example of a current sale (or promotion) that I don't understand. I have the bare bones Victoria 8 character. I see the starter bundle listed at full price in the bundles deal. How is this is deal? Can't I buy this bundle any day of the week for full price? Obviously I'm missing something here...
Sometimes you have to add stuff to your cart to see what price Daz wants you to pay. If Walmart worked that way, they'd never have gotten past their first store.
I do agree, while dforce in one part is great that we get clothing to fall naturally, while on the other hand it does lead to laziness and the loss of quality in clothing items.. The one big gripe I have is with the dforce hair products.. Some are good and render okay, while others including those that are fibre mesh based make Studio laggy, and bring my system down to crawl when rendering..
The problem I find as have others, is that a few of the bundles have a lot of fluff that most folks won't use.. For myself my last Pro bundle purchase was back in February.. An idea for that could work would be to have a permanent Build A Bundle option, folks get the base figure package such as the starter pack then add in products they want.. Although I can see there being problems with that as well..
yeah - i bought Niko 8 which wasn't a pro bundle, it only had 5 items, in February..last one ... for $7.18
December i bought Lee 8 and Christian 8 Pro for $7.94 each. There were a bunch of 8 pro bundles around that time for under $10. I don;t remember the deals, but I picked a bunch of them up then.
Thanks, Sevrin for the suggestion to check the price in the cart. I did see the discount with the item in my cart. For me, there just wasn't $61 of goodness in the bundle so I passed, but at least I learned a new wrinkle in the ways of DAZ.
