Multiple LIE presets?

I want to use two different LIE presets. I can see they are overlays and not the texture, but as soon as I select the second one the first disappears. Is there a way to layer them? I know how to add a layer in the image layer editor, but you can't set the different settings or at least not that I see how. They are both metallic overlays.

An option could be to apply LIE 1, then bake it, apply the new baked textures then add LIE 2 over that.

Layered Images should stack - but of course the upper one may cover the lower.

Are they actual LIE applied to the overlay channel? Or are they Overlay Material Presets? LIEs will always stack. Material Presets will replace.
  • I assume they are presets? I'm not sure how I know that. The image changes in the surfaces tab. I can add the other image but I don't know how you change settings independed for each.

Could you show a screenshot of the surface pane that's being altered? I'm guessing an image is applied to the Overlay Weight or Overlay Color Channels?

To know the type of preset that's being used, refer to the icon. If in the corner of the icon it says (yellow band):

    • Material = then that means it's a material preset. Materials replace each other.
    • Layered = this means it uses the "Layered Image Editor" to stack images onto maps rather than replace them.

If when you apply one of your metallic presets, it wipes the other one out, then that means they are material presets. You would need to create a Layered preset by manually stacking the maps via the Layered Image Editor. Here's a good Layered Image Editor tutorial.
