Do people use Daz gift cards to save more on their own content purchases? I've actually never considered this before.

Yes, at least when they're on a discount. Doesn't hurt to keep an eye out for good (20+%) discounts on them, but also keep in mind that you can't pay some things (like more gift cards and PC+ membership) using store credit.
It also wouldn't amaze me if some people used gift cards to simply manage their monthly Daz budget, by buying one giftcard for a pre-determined amount each month, and paying their purchases using only their store credit.
Oh, yes. For years. If you're going to spend it anyway, why not maximize your spending power.
Yes, using store credit from discounted gift cards is a good way to keep one's expenses within a certain limit.
Keep in mind though, that using a gift card makes you spend more as it's already there and is easier to make a purchase.
You can buy a PC+ membership using store credit, or at least you could when I did so last, around a year or so ago. You can not of course use store credit to buy a gift card, for the obvious reason that buying them continously at 20% off would allow you to amass almost unlimited store credit for just the outlay of the initial card.
<laughs hysterically>
No, I could see how that would work, although it might have more to do with self-discipline than gift cards. Although the gift card would at least give you some kind of indicator of how fast you're exceeding your budget, which is useful (easier to look at your store credit and see how much you have left than it is to look at your payment history and see how much you've spent).
Another advantage of buying a gift card is that it stops your bank statements filling up with dozens of separate purchases. Which keeps things ... tidier, I guess.
DAZ seem to have recognized that most people buying gift cards are buying discounted cards for themselves, rather than as presents for others. Previously, the purchase form contained fields for both buyer and recipient; now there's a radio-button that defaults to "For You" and the recipient fields are hidden unless you choose "For someone else".
Before I only bought a gift card if it was on sale and for the amount I was going to spend, like a 16 dollar item I'd buy a 20 dollar card to save maybe a bucks or two. Then a month ago I did the sale and did the 300 dollar one and got something like 65 off, which was nice obviously, but that was a mistake. I blew through that way quicker than if I purchased everything without it as my buffer of do I want to see my account farther down was gone since it's now just store credit, why not get it? Some folks might have better self discipline on this but I can tell myself no when I have to pull my debit card out much easier than if it's store credit sitting there.
They're good if you tie it to the self discipline of not buying anything unless it's 60% discount etc, or use Ati's tool and check the previous lowest price and refuse to buy it at a more expensive level.
I use them to keep within the monthy budget I've set for myself. Once it's spent for the month that's it until next month.
I use them for any purchase I can, even if it means not buying at a discount.
I have had a couple of weird errors in the past where the store has glitched out or a discount has ended while I'm in the process of paying through PayPal, and I end up getting charged the non-discounted price (which is a major failing on both Daz and PayPal's part, as if the "Pay Now" button says a price, it should NOT pay any value other than that and if there's any discrepency should ask me to reconfirm), and I don't particularly want to have to get a currency conversion transaction reversed. (Being as I'm from the UK).
I don't think I've ever had the same issue paying on credit (although I may(?) have heard of others doing so), but the thing is that it's limited to my available credit and would be much easier to resolve with CS.
The other upshot is that I never get PayPal turning down orders because it's throwing a tantrum about a product called "Havana Hair" or something and assumes that Havana means I'm breaching a US-Cuba trade embargo or something, because all PayPal sees is gift card orders.
I use store credit for all purchases except gift cards. Coupled with this, I only buy the gift cards when they are on 'sale' at a discount of 15% or more. I've been doing this for at least four years now; the one challenge, as previously mentioned, is not buying something just because you have the store credit burning a hole in your pocket.
Yes.
I don't buy stuff when i run out of credit.
I only buy gift cards with a minimum of 20% without any buy in - meaning if i have to buy stuff to get 20% i don't bother.
If you can snag a good deal on GCs and have the money for a high dollar card, it'a a great deal to get a high dollar CG and then be able to get plenty of free content because of the discount. Say you find a GC deal for 25% off, then purchase a $400 GC for $300 which gives you $100 of free content. I have done this plenty of times
During the March madness extension, on Easter, I spend $700 on gift certificates and saved about $100 on things I knew I was going to buy anyway.
