Moving a custom character to another PC...

I just got a new laptop and I wanted to move a figure I custom made on my desktop to it. Is there a way to pack up the morphs and textures for the figure and move it without having to manually dig through the folders for the files it's using to make the character look the way it does?

I don't want to reinstall all the files on the Laptop. I just want to the Runtime\textures, People, and Data folder for the figure only.

Is there any product that can wrap something like that up nicely like a script?

  • Content gatherer might do the job.

  • Thanks I got Content Gather. I have questions about it. I tried using it and it seems it's grabs a lot of files for my character that I dont' think the character needs. Is there any tutorials on how to use it?

When I do an analysis it would show like 50 items assocated with the character, but when I do a gather it seems to take like hundreds of files and pack it into a zip? Upon examining it on a fresh install of Daz Studio I see lots of morphs that wasn't even being using on the character.

I'm just wondering if there's a setting I'm doing wrong.

50 items will definantly result in hundreds of files. Take any clothing or character for example and all the associated maps, diffuse, normal, sss, bump, etc. along with controling scripts.

I get the Maps, Diffuse and other stuff. But I'm talking about morphs that my character doesn't even use. Also the stuff that moves along with it doesn't even show up on the list of analyzed list of items. This are more than extra stuff associated with the character\item.

There's got to be some kind of setting or something that I'm missing.

Is there meanwhile a solution for that, because I have the same problem with Content Gatherer.

As far as I'm aware as long as you have the other packs that the morphs were used from it will still work.

Edit: I guess it would depend on where that morph came from. Sorry I haven't done a custom morph in quite some time.

I think i could locate the problem. After Analyze "Content Gatherer" shows the "File References". They include the G8F Base Figure. If I mark that to resolve it, I get > 25 GB and growing, if I then analyze again what was found (as it is suggested in the "Content Gahterer" Manual).

So if I don't include the G8F Base Figure the result is 148 MB (!). And only two products missing on my new PC. After installing them with DIM my Character works fine.

Conclusion: some hints in the "Content Gahterer" Manual how to work with it will be nice.

NS: english is not my native language, but I hope you understand what I mean
