How do you get powerpose to work with victoria 8.1 facial posing?

daz version: 4.15.0.2
I have victoria 8.1 hd loaded in the scene.
Under powerpose templateset it says Default Generic. I chose the head. Aren't there supposed to be more dials or something?

They did away with power pose for the face in 8.1, sadly. You have to load in the FACS system now and use that. I think it's under development in the G8F or G8.1F tab. I wish they could or would have kept both as I know FACS is supposed to be more accurate and such, but I find power pose so much more intuitive and easier to use.
FACS has got to be some kind of joke. I naturally tried to lift the arrow to make her smile, but instead if just made her lip look stupid.
Then I tried using another arrow, and instead of moving the flesh on the face, it moved the whole FACS gizmo up.
Then I tried another FACS arrow, and DAZ crashed. hahah what a joke.
I thought we were supposed to be able to just left click parts of her face and just kind of mold an expression.
In order to keep Daz from crashing, you need to select the piece of the FACS that you want to manipulate, and then use the parameter sliders to make adjustments. I agree that it's not very intuitive.
PowerPose works fine with G8.1 on DS 4.15, exactly like it does with G8
Where is your content installed, whole path starting with the drive letter. In how many locations is your content installed and by which methods, DIM, DAZ Central and/or DAZ Connect within DS itself ("Smart" Content)?
Does your power pose work for the face rig? It works for the rest of the body just fine but unless they changed it since 8.1 was released, the face is not supported anymore.
And good to know about the sliders, I gave up with trying the FACS system because it constantly crashed Daz. I'll give that a try.
I just tried out the FACS controls for the first time, and actually found them pretty easy and intuitive to use. You don't have to use the sliders; you can grab the gizmo. In my experience, it's just trying to grab the components directly that crashes DS.
Works exactly the same as it does with G8, lots of dots on the face, but I do not trust any "smart" or dumb installers to put stuff in their proper locations.
While that is true of 4.15.0.2 it is, as I recall, said to be fixed in a later build.
Just occured to me... Have you installed the PowerPoseTemplates for G8.1?
https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files#prod_42071
The G8.1 templates are included in the G8 templates, the files were updated when G8.1 was released.
PerttiA, thanks for that link, I downloaded the powerpose templates for Genesis 8.1F, I didn't know we had to do that.
I don't understand the point of FACS or PowerPose for the face? All it does is move the flesh around on the face, what is the purpose of Powerpose / FACS? To make what?
Is there a video of someone using FACS or PowerPose to actually create something that can be used for Genesis 8.1's face?
FACS and PowerPose are used to create facial expressions, so your figures aren't staring blankly into the camera.
They should have appeared in the "smart" installer (DIM/DAZ Central/DAZ Connect) you are using when G8.1 was released, but it's not the first time I have had doubts about their functionality... I use manual installation only.
You mean to tell me this whole time it actually does still work?!? The way I understood it originally from the post announcing 8.1 was power pose was gone for the facial rig. I have all the things installed, I thought. Heck I was just dealing with one of the tech guys about how none of my G8.1 male characters' power pose was working. He walked me through it and now that's fine, but the face just has the dot for the eyes and nothing else and my G8.1F characters if I click the head it just makes everything blank. I'll have to try later on when I have my computer free from rendering to reinstall these, glad to know it still works for somebody!
The facial rig is just an additional method for making crazy faces, Power Pose still works with G8.1
I am still waiting for some update to fix Powerpose. It's still just as broken as it has been since the 1/10th generation launch, even though it looks like every file is where it should be.
As the problem seems kind of widespread hopefully there will be some fix for the issues lots of people are having (also I still want to see the "enhanced Pose Pose" which was listed as a 1/10th feature
).
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for any update to fix something that's not broken in a system where stuff is installed correctly.
Something not broken for you doesn't mean it's not broken for many, many other people. Everything appears to be in the right place, exactly as it is for you, but is just non functional.
It doesn't really matter the install method, they should all work, or there's a problem. If DAZ is installing things wrong, that's something else to fix, surely? Genesis 8/3/etc don't seem to have this widely reported problem.
Oh and just for fun, I tried another "manual" install (reinstall number 5) and it still doesn't work. So everything is "installed correctly" and it's still broken.
Without knowing where exactly your content is installed, it is impossible to help.
Install method does matter, as depending on the method, the content gets installed into different locations with some locations overriding others. Biggest problem being DAZ Connect inside DS ("smart" Content tab)
You should know where it's installed, we went through this a few days ago.
It's in \data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female 8_1\Tools\PowerPose . Installed originally via DIM with the update, then manually.
If any method is installing files in locations or in a way that doesn't work, that's an issue that needs fixing. It's not a reaonable expectation that an official, heavily advertised install method doesn't actually work.
That path doesn't eliminate the possibility/probability that you have content installed in several locations.
Have you checked where else your content is installed?
Have you installed anything in "Smart" Content, and/or updated any products there, or let the metadata/thumbnails be updated there?
Are you logging in to DS or using it in offline mode?
How are your content libraries organized in "Content Library Manager"?
It's only installed in that one path. Which is the only version.
There isn't any items installed that have been installed via smart content or updated via it.
DS is in offline mode.
The libraries are basically just organized in the "default" setup other than being on a different drive (C is an SSD).
There doesn't seem to be anything in the log files related to power pose errors or missing files. Using the few controls and looking in the log shows files used like facs_bs_EyeLookOutRight_div2.dsf (which is an 8.1 file, I think?)
