Daz's advertisements for Affirm claim there will be no interest, but this is incorrect. Affirm DOES charge interest.  Just look at this page from Affirm's website:

    https://www.affirm.com/business/blog/understanding-apr

"Transparency: Affirm shows consumers up front—before even accepting the loan—what the total purchase cost will be, including the total interest amount."

    Daz, please fix your advertisements.

point that out above ...and was completely ignored in favour of a geography lesson....

Vendors that partner with Affirm can choose to use no-interest installment plans with Affirm. If Daz is one such vendor, then it should be 0 interest. Chase and American Express have similar programs on their credit cards, but its typically a promotional thing. Generally, you pay an installment fee that makes the overall price higher (I assume this is what Affirm does?) but sometimes there is a promotion that waives the installment fee.

Hmmm.... Well, the ad I saw said "no fees, no interest, tons of items," and didn't say anything about the no fees being for a limited time only. On a purely practical note, if there really are no fees and no interest, then I would wonder how Affirm makes money. It really sounds too good to be true. And when things sound too good to be true, they usually aren't.

I hate affirm. Apparently I had an old account with a number I can't remember because I no longer have it for so long. Affirm for some reason update my old account to my new phone number. Oh well.

...part of the reason I stay away from introductory subscription deals. When you least expect it you're socked with a bill for the normal rate and have to jump through all sorts of hoops to cancel it.

Sure it is.  The state is actually is actually Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.

    :D

You are correct, that was its name for 244 years! However, voters in Rhode Island passed a ballot measure November 5, 2020 to amend the state constitution and drop the words "Providence Plantations" from the official state name. Now it's just The State of Rhode Island, which may not be as interesting a name, but it's also not as oppressive to many people and doesn't harken back to the days of slavery.

No thanks. I've never had a loan, not going to start now.
Saved a fortune over my lifetime by not paying interest and fees.
And by not  buying things that depreciate rapidly, except for things
like 3D items, which become financially worthless the moment I pay
for them since I can't resell them at any price.

Not talking about the occasional "Hey, Joe, lend me a fiver for lunch" moments.

So if it's interest free, who is paying the loan company, Daz I asume. So if we don't use the interst free option can we have a discount equivelant to the fees Daz would pay Affirm?

The fee is probably similar to the fees they have to pay for credit card, debit card, and PayPal purchases.

...meanwhile in Wisconsin, there is a ski resort named "Rib Mountain" which has 300 ft less "vertical drop" (height from base to top, not elevation) than the "West Hills" here in Portland OR.

It probably is interest free, but these companies that offer these deals know that a fair chunk of people will not pay up on time. They may forget to do it, or may not have the money at the time. In this situation typically hefty fees and high interest rates kick in, and this will be how affirm makes its money.

Yep, ole "Stumptown" runs hilly in places. wink

Regarding the new "buy now pay later" thing ... well ...

Thanks for the offer, but I'm also of the persuasion that I should have money in hand before buying. So I'll give it a pass.

I propose a "Buy now, pay later... once the product is downloadable with Daz Connect" program cheeky

I could spend years without paying some products.

We're pleased to annouce in partnership with Affirm, the ability to buy now and pay later at Daz 3D.

    Details of the program:

    • This is for customer convenience - you don't have to do it, but provides more options at checkout should you wish.
    • It splits up customers payments into 4 payments, every two weeks (over time), so they don't have to pay for things all at once.
    • Only works for carts of over $50.
    • Only works for customers in the US and not in New Mexico or West Virginia
    • Affirm determines if a customer is approved for this program or not, not Daz 3D.
    • Refunds/returns work the same way, there will just be an option to cancel or refund from Affirm, but we can still do store credit the same way, etc.
    • Doesn't work for Gift cards or Subscription plans - this is due to Affirms policy.

I guess if you are using your purchases in a business where you leverage your spending, it might make sense.

I must be old-school.   There are three things debt should be used for:  Education (with the plan to PAY IT BACK) and a home (with a plan to pay it off quickly).

Using debt to buy virtual digital assets that have absolutely no resell value for hobiest like me... um, no thanks.

I don't have an issue buying things on credit. I tend not to, but these "zero interest, 4 payments schemes" are fine. It just breaks up the pain.

My issue is they took all my personal information and then rejected my application! Then I tried to tell them to delete my information from their computer.

I spend a bloody packet here at Daz every month, so why they would reject me is insane, but so be it.

Can someone at Daz get them to delete any information I sent them? I tried to do it myself, but they wanted MORE information about to "process" my request.

I was born at night, but not LAST night!!!
