D-former field is has effect on non-corresponding location.

Hi, I am trying to deform part of figure. I am starting to know about this function but I have problem.

When I put deformer, parented to the figure, It has effect on outside the field ball.

Please see the attached image. The deformer field is attached on back shoulder of the figure, however the figure has deformer effect on its chest.

I am trying to deform within the field ball.

Does any one know what is causing this?

Thank you.

Did you add the D-Former after posing the figure? You can see the affected vertices are outside of the field. A D-Former acts on the mesh from its initial zero position relative to the root node, not where the vertices are currently. Just zero the pose and reposition the D-Former. When you pose the figure, the deformations will follow, but the field will appear in its original position, and move the vertices in the same direction as it would in the initial pose. For example, if you want the D-Former to pull out on the upper back, it will still pull out the targeted vertices from the figure even if it has been turned around or bent over. It can be confusing, so it is best to set the D-Formers and tweak the effects to your liking, then apply the pose.

  • Yes! When figure pose is restored, I could target figure properly.
    Thank you!

Great! Thanks for the confirmation. I didn't know if that was the right solution for you.
