Please help. "DigiVault Stardomes" is supposed to be a DAZ Studios only product, but only renders black. I have reset the render to Default before loading the Stardome set, then loaded a Material-- to no avail.

That is a product for 3Delight - by age, inferred from the SKU, and because it doesn't say Iray presets. It will have shadow casting turned off for the dome, to allow external light in in Daz Studio, but that doesn't work in Iray. The light cluserts are probaby Distant Lights, which will be blocked by the dome in Iray. What you could do, in the surfaces pane, is select the dome and its surface(s), apply the Iray Uber Base shader from the Presets tab, then from the Editor tab apply the ambient map for the dome to the Emissive Colour channel and adjust the luminosity (and adjust tone mapper settings, since the result will be a lot darker than the default bright daylight). If you can't get that to work you will probably need tor equest a refund.
I remember that being a 3delight product and not an iray product. This might help: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/61704/tutorial-using-iray-with-3delight-skydomes
Yeap, it's a 3Delight product. Sorry.
Pete
It says this on the product page. NOTE THAT IT SAYS DAZ STUDIOS ONLY. I'm try to stay AWAY from products that are not DAZ compatible. Why are they lying about it? I'm going to take the time and effort to ask for a refund:

I don't want it if I have to jump through hoops to force it to work on some level. It is either an honest DAZ Studios product or it is not. This is happening to me a lot!
It is "an honest DAZ Studios product", just one for the 3Delight renderer not Iray. Daz Studio can still do 3Delight renders, so it will still work on that basis.
Anything with an SKU lower than 22000 will be 3Delight only unless it has been specifically updated to add Iray settings, in which case it would almost certainly say so in the product description. Sounds like you need to take advantage of the 30-day return period.
How the HECK do I make an informed choice when I buy a DAZ Studios product if the Product Page is not giving me all of the information? VERY FRUSTRATING!
Don't buy anything lower than SKU: 22000-- if you want a DAZ Studios product? I MUST KNOW if this is the mantra I am to follow from now on since I don't like these awful 3D Delight surprises! NOW, I always buy after reading the product page to make sure it can be used correctly in DAZ Studios. But I'm finding that not all of the information is available on the product pages to ensure informed choices. AWFUL! I don't use my new products right away. I buy them and use them when I am inspired to do so. Someone from DAZ needs to man/woman up and say the words, "Don't buy under SKU: 22000... if that restriction will work. Either your artists or the people that write the product pages are intentionally lying.
John, the product descriptions were accurate when written, because 3Delight was the only render engine in Daz Studio at the time. They just have not gone to the effort to go back through every old product to update the store pages to add the words "3Delight" or "not Iray" to them. Anyway quite a lot of older products work pretty well with Iray without any adjustment being required.
By the way SKU: 22000 is only a rough number - Iray was actually introduced partway through the 22xxx series and many 3Delight products already in the development pipeline were added to the store after it. (And some people actually don't want to use the Iray render engine anyway, for various reasons)
Merged threads since the new was a continuation of the old.
If the description doesn't say it has Iray materials it almost certainly doesn't. But not having Iray materials doesn't mean it isn't a Daz Studio item - the 3delight render engine is, as MelanieL says, still included and still used by some people 9all the time or on occasion). Even really old products in Poser format can be loaded and used in DS for the most part.
MelanieL, you didn't read what I attached, or you'd see that what you said is not correct. The product page is COMPLETELY wrong and says nothing about 3D Delight-- AT ALL. I'm attaching the screenshots again here. It quite simply a LIE.
Richard Haseltine! What are YOU talking about? Did YOU read the product description I attached? No? Well, that explains your remark. If you had, you would not have been able to say ANY of it IT EVEN SAYS THAT IT IS ONLY FOR DAZ STUDIOS! Get it together.
Daz Studio has, to date, three possible render engines: Iray, 3delight and Filament. Since 4.15 is the most current version of Daz Studio all the products in the shop show that as the compatable software. 3delight items CAN be used with the Iray render engine they just require tweaking.
3delight currently still exists, as a render engine, in Daz Studio 4.15, therefore 3delight items are compatable with that, the most current version, of the software.
3delight is a part of daz studio.
Iray was added in 2015. before that 3delight was the primary daz studio renderer in the way Iray is now. so products from 2015 and earlier made for Daz studio were made for 3delight in Daz studio. Specifically.
Add to that 3delight is still a part of Daz Studio so things made for 3delight still work in Daz studio (though the numer of people who use it now are limited)
as mentioned, things made before 2015 did not specify that the were not made for Iray because it did not yet exist and they did not specify 3delight because it was the only renderer included in daz studio.
Something else I've been doing with similar products is to simply dig through their texture folders and apply the image to the backdrop {environment tab} or a plane, etc.
Iray is not Daz Studio. Something can be compatible with DS 4.15 without being compatible with Iray.
I understand what all of you are saying. MY biggest complaint over the last several months is that the product descriptions I've run afoul of do not state anything about 4D Delight, only IRAY. It is horribly misleading and terribly frustration. The best information I've received thus far is the cutoff SKU 22000.
Digivault Skydome rendered in Iray.
