Why is my DForce gravity going sideways? - SOLVED

I modeled a simple prop in the shape of a glove.  I applied DForce to it intending for it to fall to a tabletop (simple primitive cube) and lie flat.  After applying a DForce surface to the glove prop and initiating a simulation, the glove starts sideways.  I have even tried converting to a conforming figure and applying DForce with no figure present.  Still sideways.

Hmmm?

Ultimately, what I am going for is a stereotypical tophat, cane, and gloves that go with a fancy tux or evening suit as per the pic below.

And here is the glove mesh

Is the cube mesh dense enough? Is the glove starting out intersecting the cube?

ETA: Also, the glove mesh looks pretty dense in some spots (denser than the threshhold).

My guess is the problem are the fingertips (And maybe at the wrist). The mesh is too dense so you get continuous collisions. What I would do is create new surfaces for the fingertips and the base (wrist) and lower collision offset for only this new surface.

    Thank you for your suggestions.

The problem is that the default collision distance is 2 mm, so if there is less than that between vertices it will build up energy and perform strange movements.

    Thank you again, everyone.

I made a revised mesh with a lower resolution.  Much improved results.

I have enough info now to experiment with.

    Cheers.

After playing with the dforce surface parameters

Now that I have a better idea of what is going on, I will create a better mesh (finger to palm ratio) and play around a little more.

    I consider this issue solved.

    Thanks again.
