Where can I get?. . .[solved]

Sorry if this is redundant. . .Not seeing a thread for this, I started here; often I see product in promos but have no idea who made them or where they are available. . .today's puzzlement is concerning "HUNK m4 Olek skin texture - Daz3d" pictured in M4 Skins Batch Converter to Genesis 2 Male(s) by Draagonstorm. . .try as I might I cannot locate the skin texture. (see image below. . .presuming I can attach an image)
Has anyone any idea of where I can get it?
Thanks.

This is an M4 texture by Mec4D. It is part of the Hunk MegaPack. It is available at her site Mec4D.com. It's currently on sale.
A very good question - the only (other than this post) reference I can find is to an upload to deviantART from 3 years agot that uses that skin texture. I was assuming he was a 'named character' in a bundle or something, but can't seem to find him. Hopefully someone else will have more luck than us! :)
As above, Mec4D's Hunk MegaPack. Available on her site.
And the bugger of it was I was idly thinking that Cath had done a Hunk set, but I got de-railed thinking it was Buddy .. ;) And yes, her Hunk MegaPack (6 textures) is on sale. She does some very nice work!
Thanks heaps for the info!!!. . .this presents itself with another question I have. . .how does one install off site downloads?. . .since I am a very new newbie, all of my content has come from the daz store and installs itself. . .I found a backdrop somewhere and downloaded it, but have never figured out how to install it in my program (I've read that installation of files is VERY complex). . .
if this is addressed elsewhere, I'll gladly look it up if someone gives me a link.
Again, thanks!

Is the backdrop an actual figure or is it simply a texture for some other product? Where did you download the backdrop from? The where can often indicate how the folder set up will be. Most products from Rendo and RDNA follow the legacy Poser Runtime file set up.
You need to unzip the download to a temp folder and take a look at it. If the top folder is Runtime, then the files are probably in the legacy Runtime file set up. You can copy the runtime folder to the Content Folder in you DS Library folder. The files will show up in your content tab provided you have mapped it to content database. They will show up under Poser content. They will also not be in the smart content tab. I have yet to encounter any products sold in other brokerages that have metadata for the CMS.
I don't have access to my personal runtimes here at work so I can't tell you exactly what you would find if you bought the product.
Can you unzip the backdrop and give a screenshot so someone can get a look at the file set up?

When I click on the file folder PJZ SIMPLE BACKDROP[{image below]}(which has a zipper on it but doesn't seem to actually be compressed) there is immediately a file folder called runtime and inside that are folders named: Geometries/ Libraries/Read Me/Textures. . . .these appear to be the similar to the MEC4D textures I just bought (thanks for the info), although the MEC4D don't contain Geometries or Read Me. . .
You wrote "You can copy the runtime folder to the Content Folder in you DS Library folder. The files will show up in your content tab provided you have mapped it to content database."
say what?. . . . . .I have no idea what that means. . .I do understand "copy to your Content folder" and maybe "DS Library". . .but "mapped it to content database" is like totally foreign. . .don't know me a thing about mapping anything. . .:-). . .
Hope this is enough info to help, but if not, I can see what more I can come up with.
Thanks a lot.
Sorry for the endlessness of my questions. . .
" Content Folder in your DS Library folder". . . . . .a new puzzlement. . .I looked through the various files I know of associated with Daz3d (programs/programsx86 in C drive and Daz3d in Documents) and see nothing labeled Content Folder or DS Library. . .now, being a very new newbie, this does not surprise me; I may not (do not) know where else Daz might be on my computer. . .so. . .where and what exactly might I be looking for?
:-)
The 'content' folder will be the one called My DAZ3D Library (or similar) under your Documents folder tree. To check to see what Daz Studio is using (and to modify it if you wish/need) look under Edit> Preferences (or press F2), look at the Content Library tab and click on the Content Directory Manager... button
Thanks SimonJM-
am trying to do just that as I write this. . .the image (below) shows you what's in my My DAZ3D Library. . .pardon my extreme ignorance, but I don't see a Edit> Preferences. . .and I am certain, even if I did see such a thing, I'd not know what to modify in it anyway. . .
As to installing the MEC4D files and the background file, do I just copy the runtime folders and plop them in the library? or do I separate them up into categories. . .????
As I say, please pardon my extreme ignorance in all of this and thanks for bearing with me.
Randall
I am probably not the best person to talk about how to organise content .. ;)
In Daz Studio, use the Edit menu, followed by Preferences (or just press F2).
Depending on how your content library/management is setup, you may be 'just' be able to 'tip' the unzipped file into that My DAZ 3D Library folder. It will also depend on the structure of the folders within the zip, if the top most folder is called Runtime, then you should be able to do so.
I have three main folder structures for content: one that is Daz Studio only, one that is shared between Poser and Daz Studio and one that is Poser only (and hence not attached to Daz Studio!). For this product I'd probably put it into my shared Daz/Poser folder; but that is just me! :)
Thanks Simon JM,
I guess I'll just try putting the folders into the library labeled as they are (PJZ imple/EliM4/hunkm4) and see what happens. . .at least if I don't break them up into categories if they don't work I'll know (I guess) how to remove them. :red: :-). . .????
Okay. . .well. . .that didn't do anything. . .good on one hand, bad on the other. . .good that it apparently didn't mess anything up or crash the program. . .bad in that the files didn't load. . .(bummer). . .at least I can remove them without any problems. . .
will forge onward. . .
Ok, as I suspected it would be, the backdrop folder is in the legacy Poser runtime format.
Not to bore you but a bit of an explanation. Up until version 8 of Poser, all Poser content had to set up in a strict file set up to be used by the app. Even though external runtimes were introduced in Poser 5, you still had to have the files in a specific set up.
DAZ was originally a Poser content developer. They created DS to more or less protect their interests when Curious Labs (the owners of Poser at the time) had financial difficulties and no one was sure of it's fate. DS can parse aka open most Poser files. Dynamic hair is one it can't. Poser lights and cameras may show up but don't work as expected. Materials are handled differently as they are tied to the render engine. DS and Poser use different render engines.
The back drop should open in your version of DS. Here's a simple suggestion: locate the folder the DIM installs your content files to. You should see a folder labeled Content. Open up this folder. Inside there should be a folder labelled Runtime. This is the folder you want to add the backdrops files to. If you do not have Poser content mapped to your content database you need to do this. It's been a while since I did this because DS isn't part of our pipeline anymore but you should be able to click the upper right corner of the content pan and get a fly out that give you a choice to edit the content database. Someone else is probably better at this part so hopefully the can explain it better.
As I posted before, the backdrop isn't likely to show up as smart content. Most artists who make freebies and non DAZ vendors don't bother with the smart content metadata. It will however show up in regular content pane. Once you have the Poser directory mapped to the content database, you will see it in the content pane. I usually keep my content in tree format because I find it easier. If you do this, you will see a folder and Poser. If you expand the tree you will see either character and the backdrop inside if it was a cr2 or props if it is a pp2. Open the folders and you should find the backdrop.
Thanks icprncss!
. . .having background knowledge is always a good thing, so you didn't bore me at all. . .but I understood very little of what you wrote as the vocabulary is unknown to me, so I made a list of "terms" I need to look up to better understand the information you provided. . .thankfully, I understood enough of what you conveyed to actually upload the files and find them in the daz program so I am VERY VERY happy and feel (idiotically) accomplished. . .
I thank you all for your time and interest and participation and am grateful for the meaningful assist.

Hello All. . .
And now. . .sorry. . .another puzzlement. . .
Interestingly (for me at least), having successfully loaded the MEC4D textures into the program, the results are curious. . .they render with strange white spots. . .(see images)
I have had this occur before with the M4 Elite Texture: Jeremy, but don't know whether it is a lighting thing, an incompatibility thing or a "I don't know what I'm doing" thing.
Anyone know anything about how I can fix this?
Please redirect me if this is covered elsewhere.
:)
Update: (and then I'll leave everyone alone)
A note from Catharina (the creator of the textures) says that these textures were made before Daz4 and it appears to be a shader issue causing the spots. . .
