Setting the View - doesn't

While working my way through the tutorial to record the steps (yes, that is how I learn, repeat repeat repeat) I got to the part which instructs as follows:

Setting the view
Make sure final render is done through camera just loaded. Set view for viewport appropriately.

The pretty orange arrow point to the upper part of the main bar where sat a grey'd out box. According to the directives there should have been a drop down box.

I did take a screen shot which I will enclose. I should note that while installing PAZ Studio 4.7, I encountered 2 errors:
Install Manager cannot find a required path.

1. Photoshop 3d Bridge for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Win 32-bit)" etc.
2. The package for "DSON Importer for Poser (Win 32-bit)" etc.

Now, I do have Photoshop CS6 without the 3d extension package as well as Illustrator so I thought perhaps these were more like a suggestion than a "DO THIS OR YOU WILL FAIL" kind of thing.
Can someone advise using the fabulous screen shot I've included? Thank you and may the pixels be surrounding you.

Were you using the default layout for that lesson? It should be going to the Viewport, I don't see the Viewport tab (though it may just be out of sight of the screenshot).

In DIM, click the gear icon at top-right to open preferences, then go to Applications, click the + button to add an application, set it to Photoshop - CS6 - 64bit, and click the ... button to set the location. You need to tell DIM where to find Poser and which version you have too, if you want to use the DSON Importer.

Answering your first question: Yes I had just re-loaded DAZ [after uninstalling it because it kept blowing up PS and somehow my
msvcrt10.dll had been killed] following the instructions but when I went to download everything I encountered the 2 non-installed error messages. Okay, now I do NOT have a 64 bit OS nor is PS 64 bit. DIM = Digital Image Mover? *sigh*.....acronyms will be the downfall of the human race trust me. DSON is meant (if I'm reading the error msg correctly) for Poser, which is a different graphics program right? GAK...okay, here's what I'll try:
    1. Open DAZ Install Manager/Applications
    2. Set the App to PS CS6 - 32 bit
    3. Set the Path to the top level of PS and create a folder there for DAZ (not sure about that part)....

I do NOT have Poser. Big problem if I need it right?

Thank you for your input and if or when this fails - I'll be B-A-A-C-K!!!

DSON is the native DAZ Studio format, but yes the DSON Importer is for Poser (to allow it to import DSON files) so if you don't have Poser you don't want to install that.

In 3. I'm not sure what you mean - just tell DS where your Poser application is and it will place the plug-in correctly for you.

You don't want to create a folder there -- just give the path to the Photoshop application, and the plugin will be installed to the correct subfolder there.

I'm back. I have done as suggested and pointed DAZ at the PS folder. It took it but again when I went to run through the tutorial I got as far as Setting the view:
Make sure final render is done through camera just loaded. Set view for viewport appropriately.

There again is no drop down and the tab is blank as shown previously. It's as if a piece of DAZ is missing. The drop down should be a choice of what, a render, a camera position?

So is this a programming glitch and has anyone else experienced it? The version of DAZ is 4.7, 32-bit. The steps I took to reach this area were the automated tutorial with the orange arrows. If you need a different view of the problem screen please let me know and I'll re-capture it.

Again, thanks for the info but PLEASE someone figure out this problem in the program.

In DS4.7, the viewport (for the first time) is now a pane like the other windows.

Yours does not appear to be showing, so go to Window > Panes (Tabs) > Viewport and load it. It should then dock at the top of the screen, and then your arrow should point to the correct place.

FINALLY!!! You are absolutely correct. I was missing a window. I'm used to PS & Illustrator windows which float but am not used to this app yet. Thank you so much!
