Ungrouping Static Props

Is there a way to un-group props?

Sometimes I want to use part of a prop group (made up of different props--for example use the cables in a cable bundle prop, but not in the way they were laid out by the vendor). I know I can just edit the geometry and delete the parts I don't want and then rinse and repeat to isolate each part, but is there a way to just ungroup them so I can move them around individually?

depends on the prop, the program and how/if it was actually grouped. most apps do grouping, but go about it in different ways and many I know don't really use actual grouping on their models. What one might call 'grouping" could actually just be different parts of the same prop with different material zones. In UVMapper, you can load an .obj and select by group or material .

Is the prop's geometry a single obj?
