PC+ so odd..

Hi,
I own more than 3k items from this store. So I hope my feedback will be taken into consideration.
My subscription upgraded to PC+ 9 days earlier than my PC subscription ended. The PC club status page showed my subscription as cancelled so I was not expecting it to autorenew.
I was purchasing PC items and all the suddenly all the deals were ridiculously high. Now I cannot purchase the long list of items which I wanted, because the price for PC items is ridiculously different.
I have been looking around the store and I am horrified at how PC+ counts the discounts. The good days are gone.
I hope DAZ reconsiders what they did to PC category, it is really not nice.
For now I stop purchasing, I am not interested on monthly discount bonuses based on a minumum fee, If I never managed to buy stuff from renderosity is simply because of that, that model of regular discount coupons does not fit me.

Hey,
Have you checked out the thread about the PC+ changes? That will hopefully explain everything about the changes.
I'm guessing you were an annual member. When DAZ changed to the PC Plus the first of August, annual members were given the choice of voluntarily opting into the PC Plus or waiting until their membership ran out. If you waited out your membership, you were allowed to purchase PC items at the old PC pricing. Once your membership auto renewed, you became a PC Plus member. There is no choice in the matter.
The tiered pricing isn't great but, so far, it hasn't been horrendous either. Most of new product have been $2.99, 3.99 and 4.99. If you buy during the first two weeks at the intro price, you get both the intro price discount and the standard PC discount on DO's. During this time, a $2.99 item is only about ten cents higher than flat PC rate.
The back catalog (anything released before July 30) is still at the old PC rate for the time being. That could change so if you want back catalog items, buy sooner rather than later.
To be honest, I don't see DAZ going back to old system. The only addition to the PC Plus that requires a minimum purchase is one coupon.
Yes, I opted not to join PC+ but my account was converted 9 days earlier, and it said cancelled. I don't understand why a cancelled subscription auto-renews.
Now the entire store is tied to intro prices and sales, there is no place where to get cheap things in case of emergency, lets say when you really need them. So you are force to buy things as they come, no other chance.
Like it's been mentioned, everything pre July-30th is 1.99.. so it's only the pricing that is 2.99+. So even if you don't pick stuff up during the intro period, you can still pick up older content with the new coupon if you wish.
If it was a viable option to keep everything at 1.99 we would have, however, that isn't the case.
The hair is from 3 to 4 dollars... does this stack with discounts or not?
No, the only discounts you'll see will be the 30% off for the first 2 weeks.
Paying $3 to $4 per hair is still a better price than $16 to $20.
I did spent some serious money in this store, and very regularly. So I see no loose in offering a stable catalog, at least with me they have been earning money.
Daz seems not to understand access economy at all and only seems to care about object economy. Having a guaranteed access to a good pricing is more valuable than any coupon... if I purchase 3000 items that I need I don´t want to have to stress as well getting the entire pc catalog just in case I would need it. PC was still a decent balance, but PC+ is just sale and coupon based like renderosity, wich is a system that will never work for me. Those methods only work for small purchases but are simply too tiresome for a larger perspective. Here we come to the eternal mistake with daz; to market themselves to the non professional and completely neglect that their catalogs does have professional use. Do I really want to waste so many hours chasing stacking discounts? and having to purchase so many items in advance?. Now that the PC+ items became this expensive I feel forced to purchase them on release... Which I refuse, my contribution to DAZ turnover is high enough already, and I simply have no time to keep playing with stacking discounts. Reducing the model to release pricing, discounts and coupons only proves the lack of knowledge about its own customers.
So I will opt out and and use my budget for the following months in a few entire catalogs that I saw somewhere else. Hopefully someone noticed the change at the end of the period and reconsiders.
As well It is really not fun to become PC+ automatically before my previous PC subscription ended, and with the subscription showing as cancelled. I am not inventing anything, during the beta period I was unable to try PC+ because the auto-renew was off, proves of it are my support tickets on the subject.
The pricing of the PC catalog has long been an issue for DAZ. Even before the merger and the changeover at the top. Many alternatives have been kicked around over the years. Including raising the prices on all items, offering a low intro price for two weeks and then increasing the price, and some others I can't remember right now.
In the end, DAZ found the PC was not sustainable in it's old form. Would you rather DAZ have decided to simply do away with the PC? You still get good products and good prices.
If you renew, PC+ is your only choice. However, if I understand your post correctly, it seems wrong that you were converted 9 days before expiration without even having auto renewal enabled. I think you should be given the 9 days back to purchase whatever you want at the old PC prices until your PC subscription expires. It is probably some shortcoming or glitch in the renewal system. I've heard other people complain about getting charged for their renewal several days before they expected it, according to their expiration date. Your only recourse now is probably to submit a help request and ask for those 9 days of original PC club benefits that you are entitled to. DAZ sales support is excellent, and I hope you get a satisfactory resolution.
To address the various points..
The subscription issue, yes, is one for CS. If you don't wish to renew and it was billed automatically, hopefully CS will be able to sort that out for you.
Regarding the wider issue of the PC+, I'm sorry if in your circumstances that the PC doesn't meet your requirements. The whole thing was debated quite widely, so if you want more information about the reasoning behind it all then just do a search on the forums and it will come up.
I'm not sure what you mean about stacking discounts. Most of the PC items are heavily discounted from their original price, and you still save a huge amount by being a member as opposed to not. In bundles alone I've easily saved the cover price of being a PC member, and that's not even going into individual savings on items or the $6 coupons which allow you to get discounted PA goods, something which wasn't even possible on the classic Platinum Club.
You say Daz doesn't understand economy, but it's precisely because they do that these changes were necessary. They can't continue to give away items at only a few cents profit each, as it's simply unsustainable. They would be losing revenue rather than earning it, and the cover price for Platinum Club simply wasn't enough to keep up. I understand you may be frustrated, and you certainly weren't alone, but I'd rather pay for a service knowing that it supports the artists that I respect rather than see them go out of business all for the want of a few extra savings.
gabriel.delacruz, Thank you for warning about earlier involuntary switch. As my PC membership expires soon and I have no desire to convert, I'll need to take precautions and buy everything I need earlier, it seems, as subscription system is unable to properly let PC membership expire.
From past tickets and responses from CS, it is my understanding that DAZ submits the charge for renewal to the listed payment method up to 5 business days before the date the membership is due to expire. This done in the event the payment is declined. DAZ can then generate an email to the customer and give them time to correct whatever the problem is.
In the case of the OP, the extra days are likely tied to the US Thanksgiving holiday. Many business are closed on both Thursday and Friday of that week.
I was also told that there have been glitches where the auto renew box is not checked but the system reads it as being checked and submits the request for payment.
I won't call recurring non-refundable-$70-charge-that-screws-your-subscription 'a glitch'. I'd call it a 'badly implemented system nobody bothers to fix'. Proper shop shouldn't have 'glitches' like that.
Imagine, this is last days of somebody in PC and they want to grab whatever 1.99 items they may before leaving for good. And suddenly, they are in PC+ which they had no intention to join and prices in cart jumped up drastically. CS may return $70 charge but nobody will be able to fix PC+ thing back to PC and so that person will never be able to buy those items without spending much more than they've intended even if they still were well within their time to rightfully buy them for 1.99. Do you know a solution on how to fix this part of the issue? The only thing I can come with is for DAZ3D to let the person buy PC+ items for PC+ prices and refunding them the difference between those and PC 1.99 flat prices for this particular order. But I highly doubt that this is going to happen and even if refunds are to be given, they can be only Store Credits - unusable if person never wants to spend money in DAZ3D store again.
This issue is important to me as without this topic the same situation might have happened to me later.
Thanks for the clarification icprncss.
I submitted a ticket and requested not to auto-renew the subscription. I will consider to join the PC+ or not in the future.
It is a pity that the support did not manage to allowed me to swap to PC+ during trial period, because of those glitches, it would had been interesting to see how it works over a longer period of time. Since right know the situation shows no improvement... and the change is not nice.
And congratulations.
I give up.
