Suggestions for armour (Generation 4 and up)

I have never tackled a project like this before... Recreating typical paladins. I realised I don't have suitable armour. You know, the man-in-cans ones. I tried to fit Order of the Wolf onto Gen2F, but it looked terrible, the breastplate left the breasts out completely. When hiding the bones, there were huge gaps showing. So please, point me in the right direction. I use Genesis and Gen2F/Gen2M pretty much all the time with soft spots reserved for A3 and H3, but the last two ones won't be used as paladins, so any clothing from Generation 4 and up should do the trick.

Thank you, guys, some great suggestions here. I added everything except Lux Lucis to my wishlist. And realised Alruna was in V5 Pro Bundle, I must have forgotten to install it after switching from DS 4.5 to 4.6, silly me! I must fix that. Paladin and Paragon has this nice chainmail cap option. Unfortunately, all items are pricey at the moment, so I will see how Alruna works and then check my wishlist to ensure I can grab the rest when it goes on sale. Lady of War is just superb, it would work for spellcasters as well, while Elven Armor will suit the paladin. I guess Paladin and Paragon with Historical Armour would be most suitable, though I'd love to at some point get them all .

I have looked through a lot of the armor products on this store, and there is actually very little that is historically accurate. Most have wolfs bulging out of the armor, or fancy curved sections that would be a disaster if used in real combat. Bizarrely two of the more accurate looking sets are 1 for women (the above mentioned Historical Armor for V4), and 1 for children (http://www.daz3d.com/kids-4-armor). Apart from Joan of Arc (who wore armor made for a man), there are very few (maybe none) other recorded cases of females in medieval style metal armor, but I guess fantasy renders are what sells products, and here women seem to be in the vanguard of the battle line.

For men, there are a few sets that are more accurate, mostly very old. One is this, which I actually own:

    http://www.daz3d.com/the-knight-errant-for-michael-3-0

Even this set has certain fantasy elements regarding the shoulder armor and helmets. In my opinion the most historically accurate set is for Michael 1, so naturally very old. That is this set:

    https://www.daz3d.com/15th-century-armor-for-michael

It looks flat and dull compared to other sets, but armor was meant for battle, not the fashion walk. The modelling on this is very dated compared to the standards of today, but no doubt was good for its time. However it comes with a high price tag, 30 dollars, which even during the 2-3 times a year when the whole site is 50% off, you still need to spend 15 dollars to get a model that is 10 years plus old. After DAZ was virtually giving away M4/V4 items not so long ago, a similar sale of even older items for Gen 1/2 and 3 would be nice, particularly as a lot of the more historically accurate outfits are quite old.

Just as an FYI... the pauldrons and helmets in that set, ALL of them, are based on ACTUAL armor pieces. They are not fantasy.

There's also Sichelgaita, wife of Robert Guiscard, though that's earlier than most of the armour being looked at.

That is great, I apologise for my error. Knight Errand is definitely the best set of armor that I own. Pity that little equivalent has been available for gen 4 and afterwards.

Thanks to all. Knight Errant looks terrific, but I'm afraid it would not fit a Genesis or Gen2F female very well. Battle Maiden looks fine too. I'm looking for sensible armour that is historically-accurate, at least to an extend, so this is a tough search.

Strange, I had no major issues with auto-fitting Knight Errand to Genesis. Below is Genesis with the default shape, wearing the armor. I do see a slight issue with the chainmail shirt, maybe SickleYields smoothing morphs can help with that.

And here is the same shot with Genesis morphed into a large breasted V5

The trouble is, not so much the lack of relatively historically accurate armour, but the fact you're trying to fit it to a FEMALE. :( If you have a female to show - you want it to be *obviously* female. The only way I can see you being able to do that realisticly, and historically is to go a sort of Joan of Arc route. Render it WITHOUT the helmet - fit the armour and pose it with the appropriate figure it was designed for. Then, turn OFF the visibility on model's head and use your Genesis 2 Females head in it's place. There - an obviously female paladin wearing historically correct plate armour :)

Ohh, and one nice, historically correct armour that I don't think's been mentioned so far is a set of Milanese armour by ( I think) Swidelheim. I can't recall where it is and what it's designed for - M4, if I recall correctly. Plain battle armour, but pretty accurate.

    I did a search - here's that armour I mentioned

The Historical Armour autofits very nicely to G2F, just parent the helmet.
