What was the last version of Daz Studio that could read poser files?

HI all,

Could anyone tell me what that version was? Because that is the last version
I will use.

I have everything in my poser runtime, and it's going to stay that way.

Thanks!

    Hi Tyler,

what kind of "poser files" do you mean exactly? DAZ Studio (4x) still can read the .cr, .pz2, .pz3, .cm2, .fc2, .lt2, .hr, .hd2 and .pp2 poser formats (although you still have to adjust the surface material settings in Studio (Glossiness, Ambient Color...)). What it couldn't and still can't read are the .mt5 and .mc6 poser material formats.
So you could update to the actual 4.7.0.12 of DS and your figures and props in poser format will still load.

    Cheers.

4.7 can read Poser files the same as previous versions, cameras and lights don't transfer very well and shaders don't at all. But the Poser Runtime can be seen and read by DS.

If I click the content library tab on the right, i see the files listed, but I get no thumbnail previews. That is, I get the thumbnails, but with no pictures in them, just the daz 3d icon.

That's odd. Studio normally reads icons in .png and .jpg, even the older poser .rsr format. The DAZ icon normally only shows up, when there are no icon images resident. Do the icon files bear the same names? F. e. the icon for the "AG Boat.cr2" must be named "AG Boat.xx" where "xx" could be .jpg, .png or .rsr.

Absolutely everything in my runtime is now .obj, and it isn't supposed to be. Looks like I have to rebuild the whole thing.
I have no idea what happened.

Are you on a Windows or Mac OS?

    windows 7.

To me that looks like something screwed up the filetype assignments of your OS.
If you rightclick on a file and select "Attributes" does it still say it's an .obj when it really is anything else than that?
I'd try a reboot and then check if the files are still all designated as .obj's.

Could you post a screenshot of what you are seeing, showing the chain of folders? And also of Edit>Preferences>Content Library>Content Directory Manager, showing the actual folders lsited under Current. It sounds like something is off there.

Are you looking under DAZ studio formats instead of Poser formats?
You need to have BOTH paths added in preferences

DS can read both .mt5 and .mc6 files. See:

DS4 and up can read .mc6 files, but not .mt5
