Why won't metadata show correctly in smart content on new poses?

if i make a pose inside of daz, i can get the metadata to work correctly and show up in smart content.  however, if i create a new pose outside of daz, i go through the whole process, and the smart content will not show, despite the metadata fields all being correct.  i have even hacked the dsx files, to no avail.  i have also copied the entire contents of a working pose into one of the non working pose duf files, and still no luck, even with updating the database.  are there other files involved in the smart content, other than dsx and dsa?

yep, it seems that i must create metadata for smart content as i create a pose.  i have tried to create metadata for poses that are not in the smart content already, with zero sucess, using the exact same methods i use to create a new pose.  i've even changed file names before creating metadata in case there is some conflict in that somewhere.
