How do you guys save your characters?

Two questions:

I have been saving all my characters as scenes, don't know if thats the recommended way if all im trying to do is save a character + their outfit?

Do you guys make multiple saves for one character if they have different clothes or one save with all the 'not used at this time' clothes turned off?

Thanks!

You can do either but remember that even if the clothes are not visible the textures for them will still be loaded and use memory. Saving as a scene will also save the tonemapping and enviromental settings which may not be desirable if you merge because they will replace your current settings for them.

I save them as a scene too. I delete the tonemapping and enviroment settings before I do so for the reasons given by fred9803 above

I personally save Characters as Scene Subsets.

When you pick: Save As > Scene Subset, it opens the Dialog to Name the file first, then a Dialog where you uncheck anything you don't want to be saved in the Subset. Anything there (Environment/Tonemapping Nodes) or anything else (this can be done right in a Scene containing Backgrounds, Props, other Figures...) can just be unchecked and it won't be part of the Saved Subset. It's very useful and you can load a Scene Subset into an open Scene just like any other Figure or Prop, no merging of any kind, no worries about Render Settings, etc.
