New PC Problems

Ive been working with DAZ for about a month now and just recently purchased a new PC with an NVIDIA RTX 3070 and an 11th gen i7 with windows 10 pro which is way better than my old rig. I cannot get DAZ to work on my new PC. The 32 bit version will connect to my acount, but if itry to connect to my account with the 64 bit version it crashes, i cant even work offline without it crashing. Ive deleted it and reinstalled on new PC and deleted it from my old PC with no avail. Am i missing something? Is there a way to authorize my new machine so i can use the 64 bit program? Im lost and really only bought the new PC so i could make better renders using IRAY

Crash on connect is an issue thata ffects some people and not others, the obvious suspicion is that it is connected to the security software used - does the new PC have a bundled trial of some kind? Crashing even when not trying to connect is not a known issue (not saying it doesn't happen to others, but there isn't a simple, known issue) - do you get a crash report? Have you tried using a different driver for the GPU?

  • Thanks for your reply Richard. From what I’m reading from the log in the app data doesn’t show me a crash, its almost as if closes the app because DAZ recognizes my account is signed in on a different device. Ive disable the firewall and any of windows antivirus programs but still happens. My i7 acts like it doesn’t have an integrated gpu because it uses the geoforce as a default, but just to make sure i adjusted the app specific settings to use the graphics card for DAZ. Ive disable windows from trying to update drivers automatically and have tried both game ready drivers and studio drivers from Nvidia. That’s why i am at such a loss. Ive been trying to get this to work since Saturday and have chalked it up to either a windows 10 pro or DAZ issue. Pretty frustrating.

How about installing windows 10 anew?

Pre-built PCs have often a lot of bloat ware already installed.

Maybe one of these apps is causing the issue.

Be sure not to use the one which accompanied your new PC.

So that you don't install the bloat ware unknowingly again.

A lot of us are on Windows 10, so I don't believe it's a general issue. I wasn't calling it bloatware, but trial versions of utilities or vendor-specific system tools were the sort of thing I was thinking of when I asked about trial versions of security software.

This reminded me of a video from "David does tech stuff" on youtube that I watched last month where he reviews a MSI pre built pc.

A general problem with this system was that it had a lot of blue screens of death. A lot of other users had also this problem.

After changing the SSD the system worked fine. So one would think it's an ssd issue.

But after installing another windows 10 version (not the bloat ware version supplied with the pc), the old ssd worked fine.

So it seems the windows 10 version provided with the pc was somehow borked in way that it didn't work well together with this specific ssd.

I think that could be the issue here too (I mean that the windows version is somehow bugged).

  • Thank you guys, I will give that a shot. I was kind of wondering the same thing, and don’t really like the fact that someone else built the machine and did who knows what to it before i got a chance to turn it on. I have been weary of pre built pcs because of that reason, but was my only option at this point because of the hardware shortage. Thank you again for your thoughts and ideas

  • Ive completely wiped the prebuilt pc and installed a different version of windows but still cant connect to my account through studio or DIM. Ive searched the logs and the only thing i can see that would be a problem is with DAZ’s cloud data. It’s almost as if somewhere it has saved my old IP address for my old computer and since I’m on my new computer it will not connect to thier server. Ive swapped out the dll files. Ive done everything i could think of and went through these forums for people having the same issues and tried everything they have suggested. This is extremely frustrating, have spent a good amount of money with them, and cant even get a response back from thier tech support. Ive have no antivirus software installed, Ive turned off the firewall, allowed acces for studio, DIM, and DAZ central through the firewall. Probably best if i take a step back from it before i lose my mind. Thank you guys again for your suggestions and help

Please contact support, they may be able to do soem checks from your account that you, and we, can't do alone.

  • Thank you again Richard. That was the first thing that I did, to create a support ticket, and still haven't heard back from them.

For a lot of people the ip address is dynamic meaning that it changes over time (depending on the internet service provider). So that shouldn't be the problem.

Did you try to reset your internet connection? On my cable modem there is a switch for that. After reset you should get a new ip (unless you have a static one).

Maybe it's a connection issue somehow.

Do you still have your old PC? Can you log into DAZ-studio there?

If so I would simply swap the hard disk. But if you are unlucky it could be that the old windows won't start because of the changed hardware.

And good luck waiting for tech support from DAZ.

I would also make a new account (maybe for a family member) and try to log in with it.

If it works you can be sure that it's an account issue for which daz is responsible.

  • HOLY SHIT I figured it out. definately a DAZ SSL problem dealing with a secure connection to thier servers. I downloaded new libeay32.dll file and replaced it in Daz 3d\app\64 bit  DAZStudio4 and PostgreSQL CMS\bin in the  folders as well as the program files DAZ3DIM1, DazCentral 1, and PostgreSQL CMS\bin folders as well as adding one to the Windows syswow64 folders, restarted my PC and both DS and DIM fired up and let me connect to my account. What a productive week this has been. But on the bright side I have become alot more familiar with the inner workings of my PC. Thank you all for your ideas. I wouldve given up without your guys help

What a weird problem, glad to hear you could solve it! Makes me feel kind of relieved I got my new PC last week but still stuck to downloading via DIM on my old one. Maybe I'd have run into the same thing as you did otherwise! Thanks for letting us know the solution in any case. Hopefully you'll get to finally create some lovely renders now with your new rig.
