I want to be able to install how I want.

Can someone please tell me what the offline Authorization file is for you can download from the product page when you do Manual download and install. I always manually installed new contents as my DAZ Content Dir is on F: drive It has been on its own for years as you can backup by imaging the Disk without backing up your full System, my DAZ contents Drive is 150Gb so that takes long enough to backup alone. I have used DAZ install Manager and DAZ connect both gave me problems with missing files ? but I had a problem with some new Genesis 8 stuff. Box pops up saying file not found, so I presume the file with .sea extension is some kind of protection but how do I use it ?

Those files are to allow those who wish to use Daz Connect on a machine which isn't online.

But, I don't think that is your issue. I think you need to add the directory to your Daz Content in your settings.

The .sea is only for installing Daz Connect content without logging into the Daz website from Daz Studio.

  • Thanks for your helpful comments, I may try DAZ Connect again I like to save downloaded or Purchased contents as sometime you can change their location and lose things if you have a downloaded zipped file you can see what should be there and extract the replacement file you need if lost. I will have to recheck all my contents when get time. I used DAZ connect to install then move files. Problem being I have a F: drive for DAZ contents and DAZ connect put things on my C: drive that is a SSD for Windows 10 OS only. I will have to sit down and sort my contents out as Smart content and Install does not show some of my stuff. Think they have made DAZ 4.15 hard to understand DAZ 4.12 was easy to manually install it was that Genesis 8.1 thing that confused me, I took me a while to get Genesis 8 to update. It was only when I loaded Victoria 8 I realised what was going on. What you say is making sense, Thanks.

I recommend never using Daz Connect, especially if you plan to move files. If you want to manually install and move files, just down load the zip file. But I have to wonder why you aren't just downloading and installing with DIM. You can configure DIM to download and install to your F drive directly. There is no need to install in C first and then move files to F.
