Bought Startup: Vital Tips in Getting Started with DAZ Studio and it does not appear in DAZ Central

Bought -- Startup: Vital Tips in Getting Started with DAZ Studio and it does not appear in DAZ Central, I see it in my account as being purchased, but cannot download it manually and cannot find it anywhere. When I list my assets in my library, it appears. I have no way of finding it to install it. I have sent messages to technical support and now sales support with no response. Since there is no number to call, I am at my wit's end trying to figure what to do. I am thinking that I need to contact the Attorney General in MA to lodge a formal complaint. Does anyone have any suggestions? And why does DAZ not have a phone support number?

Is there any way to contact the vendor, Digital Arts Live to let them know that I cannot access their products on DAZ?

Those are video files they won't show up in DAZ Central. I've never bought a tutorial here, but I would Imagine that you need to manually download them rom your product library on this website and then unzip them to your desk top to watch the video files, with some video player of your choice.

I just submitted a complaint to Digital Arts Live support on their website. I am hoping that they will contact DAZ on my behalf.

I just read the email response from DAZ support (my second email). This is the form letter acknowledging my issue. But the following statement really irks me and explains why I have not received a response from DAZ Support:

We do not operate as a 24 hour help center. Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm, Mountain Standard Time. Please note, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it can take 5-10 business days for a response.

5 to 10 days! You have got to be kidding! I bought the product on Friday, hoping to go through the videos over the weekend. Now I realize that it could 10 days before my issue is resolved and I can actually view the tutorials.

It might be worth trying DIM if you really want to access the videos right away. I have purchased several tutorials from Daz, and installed them with DIM. To access them, I just go into the general folder in my content library (using windows, not the Daz Studio program) after installation. Note: If you use DIM, make sure your settings are correct before installation. Checking the content library path and making sure it points where you want is important. For example, I send my content to my E drive instead of my C drive.

I did try to download the zip files manually and image files appeared in the target directory instead of the actual zip files. However, I just went back and for some reason the actual zip files now appear. I was able to drill down to the actual MP3 video file to view the course. But I am still upset about the fact that DAZ support is telling people that it could be five to 10 days before their issue is addressed by DAZ. Does anyone else think that is unacceptable?

Ha! Up until recently, they said ", it can currently take 4-6 weeks for a response at this time."

    What barbult said.

10 days is on the fast side when you are talking about Daz about troubleshooting. Some people have had open tickets for years. I just get a refund if I have an issue with a product that I can't solve myself. But supposedly they just hired some new people. So maybe things will get better.

Is there no manual download link from your Product Library? The ReadMe says there are 2 Core files (i.e, IM00072275-01_... and IM00072275-02_...), which means they should show up wherever products are supposed to. They can be installed, but will not show up in DAZ Studio. You will have to navigate to the destination folder in an explorer window and open the videos manually. The Readme should say where to find the content, but maybe it doesn't because it can't be displayed in Studio, however, the File List will show exactly where they are.

And the e-mail reply is a standard boilerplate acknowledgment, which most find a little terse. Don't take it personally.

You have got to be kidding! I keep coming back to DAZ thinking that finally, they have their act together. I want to use DAZ to illustrate children's books. Now I am not sure that I want to use DAZ Studio if they cannot support their product. I guess I have to have faith in the forums to resolve issues. In the words of Charlie Brown --aaaaaarg! If you are familiar with the Peanuts comic strip (Charles Shultz), there is an ongoing scenario where Lucy is holding the football so that Charlie Brown can kick it. Every time at the last minute, she pulls up the football and Charlie Brown falls flat on his butt. Again and again. Lucy convinces Charlie Brown that this time she is not going to pull up the football at the last minute, and every time he falls for it! I feel that way in dealing with DAZ Studio. I keep telling myself that this time i will able to use it to create my artwork. And every time I give up because it is just too difficult, the learning curve is too great, or there is a roadblock, I cannot overcome. Well, here I go again, ramping up with DAZ Studio, hoping for the best.

Thanks for your comments. I have resolved the issue using the manual download. I guess I am puzzled that so many DAZ customers tolerate the lack of support from DAZ; I guess it is a testament to the support provided by fellow users, helping each other through the rough spots.

Just one final comment. I checked my email and I got another message from DAZ Support:

We do not operate as a 24 hour help center. Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm, Mountain Standard Time. Please note it can take 2-3 business days for a response at this time.

So now we have gone from 4 to 6 weeks down to 5 to 10 days and now it is magically 2 to 3 business days. This is almost surreal...Maybe if I wait, I will get another message telling me that I will get a response in 24 hours!

I understand what you mean about the learning curve. But stick with it. Things will start to click eventually. Free and paid tutorials definitely help. And yeah, the forums are very helpful. There are thousands of questions asked and answered here that you can find using Google search.

I want to say that I received a response from DAZ Support -- to their credit. I submitted the query on Friday of last week and this evening I received a response. I guess four working days is a bit too long, but they did get back to me. I resolved the problem by doing a manual download. There should be some indications when you buy a non-standard product, like a video tutorial, that you must manually download it and then drill down to find the actual MP3 video file.
