How to correctly fit clothing

Hi all

After a long absence, I am back to 3D and so much has changed in Studio!

I made a hat for G8F and, following some very sketchy tutorials, used the transfer utility to transfer morphs ( should I have done that?) and fitted the hat to G8F.  So far, so good, it follows her when I move her around.  But alas, it breaks when I put her into a pose! See pics.  I suspect that in the pose, the rim of the hat came into close proximity with bones other than the head, which caused the deformation.

Can someone please tell me what I did wrong and how to fix?

In this process, I used the "fit to" option, but now I can't find again!  I figured that it doesn't need to have morphs transferred and that simply fitting it should be OK, but that option seems to have vanished.  I'm sure that function was under Edit-Object-Geometry.

You need to use the Node Weightmap brush to control which bones influence the hat, essentially you will want almost all of it to be influenced only by the head bone so you might simply be able to select all through the right-click menu, then right-click>Weight Editing>Fill Selected at 100%.

Thank you Richard - five years on and still as helpful as ever:)

I decide making it into a smart prop was the best way to go and found the "fit to" button!
