Learning lights and shadows

i have been playing with daz for a bit now but ,im not getting my light and shadowing right on my moddles .

i have all the tools i need but its the how to in the creation that i dont get atm. 

any good recomendations where to learn more of lights ldr and so on to make my render better ?

    Personally, I think it depends on what lighting effect you're looking for, what story you're trying to tell or emotion and mood you're trying to convey, and so on. I don't think there's a simple set of steps for every situation. If you want realism, then you need to understand stuff like color temperatures so that your lights look correct. Sometimes environment lights are good, and other times they're pretty useless. Sometimes all you need is a single spotlight and a blurred background to focus on the subject. It's less about learning the software tool and much more about learning about how to acheive whatever effect you're looking for.
