models jumping when posing

Hi,

so often, when i apply a canned pose on one of my characters, the character moves to another place on the scene, which is kind of annoying. sometimes it goes to the center of the scene, sometimes to another spot (maybe where it was when i saved that pose in another scene?)
is there a way to avoid that? (when applying the pose, or maybe when saving a pose). i would like that the figures remain where they are :)

thanks
James

If the poses are in DAZ Studio format, hold down the Ctrl key (CMD on Mac) whil applying it to get the dialog box, then uncheck the Translations.

If you are saving your own pose presets, be sure to uncheck the translations there too if you want the pose to be neutral (zero'ed).

thx both rolow and fixmypc. it sounds like you guys are offering the solutions i need, only re. mike: pressing ctrl doesn't seem to do anything and re. rolow: where do i find those settings (during saving)? (at saving, i see a window with some options, but nothing about translations, i think)

    thanks

CTRL will only work with DAZ Studio formats (.duf, .dsa, etc.) -- it won't work with .pz2 poses. Another option is to go to the Parameters pane and lock the translations on the root of the figure before applying the pose.

After you have posed a figure/object, adjust view in viewport to how you would like the thumbnail to look as it will be a snapshot of the scene. The image file shows a wacked up "flying nun" pose I quickly created for the demonstration.

    Scene tab:
    - Select posed Figure root node in Scene tab

    Main Menu:
    - File / Save As / Pose Preset

    File Save:
    - Browse to saving location and name pose file

    Properties:
    - Unselect figure's topmost node and expand (once)
    - Check 1st hierarchy level "Hip"
    - Expand 1st hierarchy level "General" then "Transforms"
    - Check Rotation (and Scaling if applicable)
    - Click Accept button
