Hi.
Is there any plan to add support for the 3DConnexion mouse in Studio? It would be a great addition.

Cheers.

    Edit.. Device Settings

    Is that not functional?

    I don't have the mouse to confirm/deny.

    Hi.
There is nothing in the devices menu. I've been wondering for a while why that menu is empty.

    Hrmm..

Just for clarification sake there's a screenshot in post.

"Device Settings" is popping up that other window for me, although since I don't have the mouse it's not enabled.

    Driver issue possibly? http://www.3dconnexion.com/service/drivers.html

Forum search didn't return much, but this seems to be the most informative thread on using one of those. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/8797/

The device settings on my installation simply reports "No devices installed". Is there a special procedure to install devices in Studio?

    Hi.
I don't have that plugin installed. Is it available as an extra?

    Thanks.

As far as I know it came stock with Studio. I have been investigating this issue since first reading this thread and only have found references to the mouse being used with Windows (though still searching), am I correct to assume you're using a MAC?

Yes, I'm using Mac. That would be a real bummer if it was supported only on Windows. The mouse has full support on Mac and several programs, including Poser and 3D-Coat have support for it on Mac. Blender too.
Hopefully this is not the case.

    Thanks.

I'm afraid I only have bad news, it appears the 3DConnexion plugin is for Windows only as it is a .dll file. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/8797/ https://www.3dconnexion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=8243 are the only two informative links I have found so far. I apologize for not being of more assistance.

You have been very helpful, at least now I know.

    Thank you.

Although I don't have a MAC, I don't give up easily and I am now on a quest to make this plugin available to you and anyone else using a MAC. You have always helped me with problems I have had using Reality plugin and it's the least I can do.

I have just submitted a support ticket on this matter. Hopefully my words were written well enough to get this ball rolling.

First, I would like to apologize for taking so long with this. In order to make more headway I need to know your OS version and the model of mouse you're using as there will be need to do testing.

    Hi charlie.
Thank you very much for getting back to this. I use Mac OS 10.9 at the moment and the mouse is a SpaceNavigator with Firmware v.4.35. The software/driver is 3DxWare 10.2.1

Please let me know if you need anything else.

I must apologize again. In my attempt to acquire the source code for the plugin Daz tech support sent me to the SDK forum. I was told by an admin that basically the source code wouldn't be provided to the public. I then replied showing that tech support had given me permission to have the code and that post was removed by another admin. It seems as though only you and I are the only ones who want this plugin developed. My final hope is that I will receive the help I need from 3Dconnexion and/or Apple Inc. as I have already contacted them regarding this matter. Again, I do apologize for not being able to do more at this time.

I am pretty sure that the two of you are not the only ones who would like to be able to use these devices in Daz Studio! For instance, I would also like to be able to use any of 3DConnexion's devices, and I am sure there are many others.

It is particularly annoying that it is available for Windows and not for OS X. I am not a programmer, but I know enough to understand that the Windows-specific .dll file is a hurdle in implementing it in OS X. However, as Paolo mentioned earlier, there are several Mac programs (including Poser!) that have implemented support for this hardware.

Anyway, I thought I would voice my support, just in case someone who is holding the key to the code that you requested is actually listening to what their end users are requesting. Thanks gentlemen for your efforts on this issue.

Thank you for the support. Although the ones that do hold 'the keys' will under no circumstances allow me to have the code, nor have I been informed 'they' will work on it, I haven't given up. I've made a couple plugins for other (Win) apps and have had little problems doing so (though they weren't too complex) so now I studying Mac programing to see if I can wright my own S.C. to make this plug available. The really sad part is I don't even have a Mac so this plug is of no use to me LOL but I'm still going to give it my all though it may take a bit of time.

I purchased and have used 3dconnection 3d mice for Daz Studio for Windows and would also like to see support for mac.

I am also a competent programmer and would be happy to help develop and / or test this driver.

Add me to the list of DAZ Studio Mac users who is dying to get support for the Space Navigator. I don't understand why this should be so difficult... Lots of other programs work fine with it.

I hope someone can help with this!

I need the plugin, too. C'mon guys, there's a huge list of macOS 3D SW supporting 3DConnexion...
