problems installing to D drive

Recently had to have my laptop repaired and they wiped my hard drives. I need to reinstall all of my Daz programs and content. I am starting with Daz Studio.

I do NOT want my stuff installed to my C drive, I want it installed to my D drive. I downloaded DIm and installed it to a folder in the D drive called stuff for Daz. I also created dedicated folder on the D drive for Daz Studio(and for other Daz programs and content but they have not come up yet).

I installed Daz Studio 4.7, genesis starter essenials, and the starter essentials for G2 male and G female. I get an error trying to load a figure in studio. I have posted screenshots of the error. It says it can't find .dsf files in the data directory.

I am using Windows 8.1 64 bit.

What version of Daz Studio? It should be trying to load a .duf file (it was .dsf until a version or two ago). You can change what loads on startup under Preferences (Edit> Preferences or press F2).

Thanks for your prompt reply. It is Daz Studio 4.7, 64 bit. No idea why it is looking for .dsf files if it isn't supposed to be.

The problem is that you told DIM to install things to the D: drive, but you haven't told DAZ Studio where to find content. In DS go to Window > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager and add "D:Stuff for DAZ\Stuff for Studio" under BOTH "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Format", and remove the two default locations.

Thank you very much. That fixed it. I will now attempt to install my other content. Might be back with more questions. :-)

You don't want to have the 32 bit and 64 bit software paths the same, as they are in your first screenshot - if they are, and you install both, one will overwrite the other (or worse, partially overwrite the other).

Ouch. If I have only installed one version of Studio, one version of Carrara,..., do I still need to start over?

No, though if they are both 64 (or both 32) it would be a good idea to change the path you haven't used.
