Measure Metrics?

Okay. I've got it. I've installed it. I know I saw it in the parameters tab at some point.

Unfortunately, I think that point was before I upgraded to 4.7.

Where do I find it now? Nothing in the parameters tab, either Actor, or Hidden, or Morphs, or Pose controls, or any of their submenus show it now. Nor do I find it in the window menu. If it's been moved, can someone tell me where to?

Do I need to reinstall it? Do I need an update? What?

If you selected your "style/layout" again it will depending on style be somewhere ;-)
I use Citylimits and Darkside and there is a measure metrics icon in the toolbar.

If it isn't in Window>Panes(Tabs) then check Help>About Installed plug-ins to see its status.

I reinstalled it. Chose City Limits and Darkside. Didn't see it. Went to info on plugins and it wasn't listed.

I *know* I saw it, somewhere in the parameters tab lists before I upgraded. I don't recall ever seeing it in the toolbar, but I use a different style.

When I get back from class I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling and see if that gets it back.

I'm on a Mac running OSX.6.8 in case that might be relevant.

I'm City Limits and Darkside as well, and I get it just fine as Totte.

Okay. I ran the uninstaller. And then reinstalled the plugin. Still no sign of it. Not in the Windows>Panes(Tabs), no sign of it in either the toolbar or the info on installed plugins. Nor could I find anything like it in my plugins folder in the Application folder.

So. I created a folder on the desktop and called it DAZStudio. I created a folder in that folder and called it Plugins. I dragged a copy of the application into the main folder.

Then I ran the installer again, customizing the install to the dummy folder.

NOTHING was installed into the plugins folder.

The installer did however create a Runtime folder with a Support folder inside it, containing the usual Support files.

It also created a Scripts folder, with a Utility folder inside it, containing a Figure Metrics.dse file (and a matching .png file)

And an Uninstallers folder with an uninstaller.

So we apparently have a plug in which isn't a plug in.

Now, in my content library there is a file named; Figure Metrics for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Mac)
There is also a file named: Measure Metrics for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Mac 32-bit) (I don't run in 32-bit mode, so I'll ignore that one)
And one named; Measure Metrics for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Mac 64-bit)
There is also a content file which i already have.

Now the one I've got in my backup library is named: 16684_FigureMetricsforDAZStudio45Mac_1.1_ds

I only purchased it in September, so I am assuming that what I have is the current version. It does NOT claim to be the 64-bit version, however.

So I downloaded that one as well. I installed it.

There is still nothing resembling a Measure metrics tool in my toolbar. The read me admits that this is a script not a plugin.

I can load a number of Measure Metrics thingies, I suppose they are nodes, from the content library, but i do not see how I'm supposed to enter in any measurements to modify the figure to be for any of them. I do not see any dials or text entry boxes anywhere.

And there is still no hint of the product in any of the parameters tabs. Or the Shaping tab which would be even more appropriate.

What does this so-called icon look like and where do I find it?

Figure Metrics is not the plug-in, it's just the script and the poses/wearables presets. You do need to have the plug-in installed.

Now, in my content library there is a file named; Figure Metrics for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Mac)
There is also a file named: Measure Metrics for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Mac 32-bit) (I don’t run in 32-bit mode, so I’ll ignore that one)
And one named; Measure Metrics for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Mac 64-bit)
There is also a content file which i already have.

In your Content Library, or your Product Library page at DAZ? Or in DIM?

Sorry. Product Library page on the site. I downloaded the 64-bit version, which came in as; DS4_MeasureMetrics_1.1.0.12_Mac64

The original file that I have is named: 16684_FigureMetricsforDAZStudio45Mac_1.1_ds

I've re-downloaded the one that I already had, and it has the same name as before. So they are two different files. Neither of them installs anything into the plugin folder. There is a Measure metrics folder in the plugin folder of the docs folder. It contains a couple of .dsx files.

There is no .dylib file with a name anything like measure metrics, or figure metrics in the plugin folder.

Am I to conclude that the plugin only runs in 32-bit mode and I should download and install that one?

No, it should work in both versions of DS (as far as I know, it certainly does on Windows). Are you looking in the zip for measure Metrics when you say there's no DyLib, or are you looking where you are installing? When using DIM the path is set in the Applications tab, though I really wouldn't encourage trying to use test paths as it's easy to get in a mess.

Well, I think I found the glitch. It wanted the serial number re-entered.

I was looking in the plugins folder in the Application folder for Studio, which is named 'DAZStudio4.5 64-bit'. Updating to 4.6 and then 4.7 did not rename the folder, and the installers seem to have no trouble finding it.

I finally emptied the application folder of everything but the app and moved everything else to a dummy folder on the desktop and reinstalled the 64-bit installer. That finally installed a plugin, so I moved everything else back into the folder and launched Studio.

No icon, but this time the plug in was listed, greyed out. Once the serial number was re-entered and the program restarted, the icon turned up.

    *Whew!*

There's a pull-down on the Measure Metrics pane for units.

O.K. I must be missing something. I have no idea what this measure metrics thing looks like. Your talking about the funy things acros the top bar (camera spot render thing, Move stuff thing, surface edit brush thing, etc)?

I have it installed, and it is green in the plug-in window. I need to get some script from somewhere as well?

Found it, sort of. You need to put it in the top bar, OK.

Find it in the left side of the "Customize" window thing, and drag it to the thing on the right of the window (Where you want it to be). Then it appears in that bar.

    Er... not happening.

The measure metrics doesn't show up in the Tool bars list. Yours shows it between Geometry Editor and Spot Render. I've got both of those, but there is no Measure Metrics entry between them.

I've got all the other windows you show.

That dose not look the same, Tho, I had to click-and-drag it from the left to the right of the window, to get it there.

Where you drag it to in the right, that is where it should end up, so just be careful where it is before releasing the mouse button.

No. Cannot drag any list item from the left column into the right column. Not even when I shift to Darkside. Any movement of the mouse makes the selection wander up or down the list, but nothing moves anywhere.

And for that matter, selecting anything in the right hand column goes no further either. It may *say* customize, but there are no customizations available for anything. Select an item in the list and nothing further comes up. And the buttons at the bottom about import and what all don't seem to be connected to anything either.

I hope mac vs PC is not that different, eek. This window appears similar to the layout config thing for some web browsers, the buttons in the left and right of that window are not the items themselves, it's a What is available to use on the left, and where you would like them in the right of the window.

I had to scroll down allot on the left window to get to an item with a '+' next to it called "Panes", in that sub-category, was a bunch of items with icons. Not seeing any sub-categories in your screen-cap worries me a tad.

Do Mac's replace the '+' thing with that triangle looking thing?

I see the mistake. In the left window, go down two from measure metrics to the one labeled "Panes", click the triangle, and a list should appear under it with a Measure Metrics Icon in the list. Drag That icon from the left to the right (The same "Tools" category you had in the right the first screen cap)

The arrowhead. Yes. They do. Click on it and it turns and the list drops down.

ZDG, go to Window > Panes > Measure Metrics, that's where you can change the units.

Got it. And got it into the Tool Bars/Tools list. But it goes no farther. Clicking on the defaults button at the bottom resets everything, dut doesn't change anything in the first place. The import button gives the option of tool bars, menus, actions or layouts. but select any of them and you just get the various Studio layout options, no alternate measurement units.

    Where does one find those?

    Thank you. Much simpler.
