Hi, DAZ Studio was working, but suddenly everything in Smart content disappeared and I was dialogue that DAZ couldn't make a connection with Postre SQL. WHY, GOD, WHYYYY? This has happened before, but I can't remember the remedy - help please? Thanks!

If the actual content files are unchanged on the drive and there were no other updates or changes to Studio, then check your AntiVirus or Firewall for updates. Overzealous security has been known to interfere with that connection to the database.

Thanks. I went and added DAZ as an app not to be blocked; didn't help. I'm afraid I am kind of swimming in thick soup when it comes to security!

Try rebooting the computer. Give it time to load everything and then open D/S again. Hopefully it will all be there. Rebooting the computer makes it stop "all" actions and reset itself somehow.

I had the same thing happen. Tried several fixes. Made it worse. Got it back to where I at least have the content folders and Daz loads without an PostreSQ: error but Smart content and databse are empty.

Well, today for some reason it's working again. Lol! I actually found an install file for the SQL, but although I had rebooted before that, and n after, it only worked the next day. Whew! :D

Damn. Re-importing metadata seems to have cured my issues with smart content & the database for the most part.... at least to where the surfaces and other tabs seem to be working again. it won't download at all or it just doesn't show up in Daz?

... Aaaand I close Studio, reopen it, and here comes the Postre warning again - and no product! Arrgghhhh! I have spent thousands of hours, and thousands of dollars, on DAZ, and I STILL can't get a working, functional, smooth-running programme and installed product! If this Postre thing is a recurring thing, SURELY by now the DAZ programmers should have sorted it out by now?? Sorry DAZ, no more money from me. I am not spending another cent until you sort this out. It has bugged me over a span of new computers, and I am giving up. It's cost an arm and a leg, and I'm done. Sadly.

Honesty, I'm having all kinds of issues with this install. clinking to slect items and surfaces doesn't always work, issues with spots, point lights and other things. I'm ready to delete and reinstall to see if that helps, but honestly, i'm scared I'll be worse off.

That's where I am too. I am so tired of uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting, trouble finding... it's the time it takes.I have to earn a living! It would be nice if someone from DAZ gave us some supportive comments at this point... Lol!

The problem is that this isn't a universal issue. It could be security software, it could be an issue with what you close and then open, it could conceivably be a corrupt database or a folder/file permission issue, there are probably other factors I am missing out. The basic system works, but local issues can cause problems; all daz can do is provide troubleshooting advice (which they do, in the Documentation Centre).

Hi Richard, thanks. I was just really frustrated yesterday; it happens so often. I have so many other softwares, none of which give these hassles. I have a big computer, several hard drives, have worked on and with computers since IBM first turned out its electric typewriter and Olivetti came up with its first word processor. I'm a bells and whistles kind of girl, love it all. But only DAZ software gives me hassles, and lots of them. So I can't help but feel that there's a common denominator here, other than me, lol!

Im sure you checked your harddrive already, since you are experienced. But in case somone else reads this...

I had pretty much the same issue. In my case it was an intermittent problem with a bad connection within the power plug of the SSD. That caused some files to go corrupt on my data drive while the system drive remained working flawlessly. Because the failure was in the cable not even exchanging the drive helped - but the cable! Glad that I'm drawing a daily backup so I could restore the whole drive. Therefore I really strongly recommend doing regular backups.
