Preferences not "sticking" in DS 4.15.0.2 Pro Edition
When I try to set a startup file, change things that usually "stick" like viewport render settings, etc. DS 4.15.0.2 starts up with the same viewport renderer, render size, content library folder... no matter what I change in preferences.
It's "stuck".
It is possible that my system's been compromised and that it's not DAZ Studio, but a communist conspiracy to bring down the western world. That is going around too. LOL
Seriously though, considering the persistent changes in the scene settings, nodes for tonemapper and environment settings, etc... this looks like a DS glitch.
Any known fixes for those of us who refuse the vaxine?
Right now DS starts up with IRAY in the viewport. It starts to load some unknown bits (that aren't in the empty scene pane) into the CUDA processors. Hummmm.... Wonder what it's doing.... the little circle goes around and seems like every time I start up DS it's taking longer and longer to get what it needs into the IRAY engine before I can change the viewport settings to one of the more stable options.
Any thoughts?
Love you anyway DAZ.
Thanks for any advice.

I made a few changes to get items showing on the Environment Tab then saved a "starter scene" ... then Edit > Preferences .... have D/S open loading that starter scene. Concept should work with anything that can be saved to a scene.
Thanks for the advice.
With the problem I was seeing originally, none of the preferences could be saved. I tried choosing a default startup file. DS would act like it saved it then when I started up again all changes to prefs, viewport settings, latyout, startup file, etc were back where they were before. It was literally "stuck" for some unknown reason.
I thought I'd fixed it by uninstalling, deleting all the residual files, reinstalling a fresh copy. That reset the interface and other parameters, but now when I startup, any changes I made to the default are ignored until I reload my custom layout. The layout settings are still being ignored until they're reloaded.
The problem seems to have been starting DS with the instance parameter:
"C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\DAZStudio.exe" -instanceName #
DS is not saving the settings when this is used even if it's the only (first) instance of the application running.
Easy fix: have two icons to launch DS. One for the first instance (without the paramater) and one with the parameter for multiple instances.
We are advised to tell you to look at

Ah yes, here it is:
"Launching a named instance of a given release cycle (using the -instanceName name CLI option) now automatically copies the application settings for the root instance of that release cycle on first launch unless the “-copyAppSettings” CLI option is also specified"
Unfortunately, I would never have understood the meaning had I not seen the issue. I get it now though.
I'll pay closer attention to the release notes.
Thank you!
